Married a Swedish woman more than 25 years ago and moved here with her. Have kids and probably grand kids in the near future. It's not a bad life here.

"I hope the Rays beat the Jays and cost them a playoff spot" might be an opinion ----- That's not an opinion, it's a statement.

I agree there's a double standard regarding who does and doesn't get away with virtually doing the same thing.

I remember I used to criticize AA on his so called 5 year plan and Rogers for not spending money, and the fans who held such high value on prospects, even those that were 3-4 years from making the team . Each time I logged in, was thinking banned again? Mostly banned for having an alternate opinion. But that was the other board..this one is much more tolerant.

240 and what 5'6"?

Never seen a swede under 5-10 yet.

Oh, he's NOT a Swede, well what female Swede would marry a 1/2 pint when used to men taller than her ?

Up until this year I could see that, but AA has done pretty much everything he can to get the team into the post-season this time around, so I don't see how that can be an excuse anymore.

Actually my hatred for AA became nothing about being a front office member I disrespect to being a person I disrespect. He pissed on my cornflakes this year...can't say much more than that.

That's an absolute double-standard and you know it. Anybody could use that cop-out to get away with essentially anything on this forum, outside of personally attacking somebody else. This forum has ostracized people for holding unpopular opinions ever since it went up. It happens every day, in nearly every thread.

"I hope the Rays beat the Jays and cost them a playoff spot" might be an opinion, but when it's voiced on a Blue Jays board, it absolutely is trolling. That would be seen as trolling on any fan site or message board that supports a sports team. You know that and I know you know that. You're purposely turning a blind eye to it to defend TheHurl, and I very strongly believe that you wouldn't be doing that if this same comment was made by an average board member.

half of what I say on here when it comes to the Rays and Jays is tongue-in-cheek. Do I believe the Jays have one of the best teams in the AL right now. Yep, sure do. Do I hope they fail...Absolutely. Do I post this because I know it annoys a couple people. Yes...and all the f***ing time now that I know it irritates you.

As for the Rays chances, I had a chance back in May to sit down with one of their front office members, and it showed me just how stupid I am about this game (or just in general as he's just a brilliant guy). When he said "our bullpen will cost us this year, but it's the pen we have to live with" (admitting his department's oversight), it sounded so funny as this was mid May and I had heard over and over from Jays fans how bad their pen was. Boxberger, Jepsen, Gomes all seemed to be pitching well and McGee was set to return. Since that time the Rays pen (even with McGee putting up 1.1 Wins) has been replacement level. I'm well aware they aren't likely to make a big run (but I'll be happy as s*** if they do), but I still have great confidence in that front office.

I have to say this thread was a resounding success. Filled with intrigue, e-fisticuffs, ban threats, and butthurt TwistedLogic posts. I really just wanted to talk about about how the playoffs would be easy to make.

If only I could get my name back on the thread title it would be the ultimate success. At least make it a HURL acronym

The Rays seem to be stuck in mediocrity for the foreseeable future. With no payroll room and the stadium in such a crap situation there's nothing they really can do. Their farm system seems pretty average too so seems they are just headed for continuous 82 win seasons. With the new draft and intl rules I think teams really need to do a full rebuild to be better off in the future.

Is the bullpen really why the Rays are struggling though? They've given a lot of playing time to position players who have been atrocious (Loney, Elmore) or just not very good (Beckham, Dejesus). I was going to list Rivera as well as he is posting a negative WAR but I assumed he was a great pitch framer. Looks like he's doing a decent job of that but not enough to make up for his hitting.

The Pen is a pretty big reason considering the fWAR for their pen the past three years has averaged just under 5.0, and has been a spot that they have picked up cheap wins. Loney and Elmore have been costly as well. I know they didn't expect Loney to put up positive numbers this year but considering how low the ceiling is for him these days I'm shocked they didn't cut bait earlier. Likely they kept putting him out there hoping that he'd do enough to have some team be willing to take the $8M for next year off their hands. Elmore is one I'd love to ask them about. Nothing about him seems appealing, except for his ability to play multiple positions. Rays will always have their offensive stinkers as they try and get some value out of nothing.
