Preview by Jeffrey Flanagan / MLB.com |

Right-hander Yordano Ventura (5-7, 4.86 ERA) is set to take the hill for the Royals against Blue Jays left-hander Mark Buehrle (11-5, 3.29 ERA). Ventura is coming off one of his best starts of the season in a win over Houston, tossing seven innings and allowing one run on six hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Buehrle got a no-decision in his last outing against Seattle, as he gave up 10 hits and three runs in 5 2/3 innings. Buehrle had a streak of nine consecutive starts of going at least six innings and giving up two or fewer runs snapped.

Three things to know about this game

• Right-hander Mark Lowe and left fielder Ben Revere are expected to make their Blue Jays debuts on Saturday afternoon. Both players were acquired in the hours leading up to Friday's non-waiver Trade Deadline. Lowe will settle into a setup role alongside LaTroy Hawkins and Brett Cecil, while Revere is expected to get most of the playing time in left field.

• Eric Hosmer has a 13-game hitting streak for the Royals. This is his third hitting streak of 12 games or longer. His career long was 16 in 2014.

• Royals right-hander Chris Young is officially back in the bullpen, even though his ERA of 3.25 is second among starters (Edinson Volquez has a 3.21 ERA). Manager Ned Yost has decided to keep Jeremy Guthrie (5.65 ERA) as his starter.

Way to piss off all your fans who paid to watch Tulo play. I have seen mutiple posts on twitter asking for a refund lol. They could have atleast DH'ed him.

This. DH him and eddy at 1B.

Seriously unless Tulo wanted the day off. How do you think he feels being replaced for Goins.

Reyes is injury prone but never got a day off.

Tulo comes in and gets a day off before he got to spend a week in a Jays uni.

Was Gibby that scared of Reyes?

It won't do the Blue Jays any good if Tulowitzki is over-played and ends up missing several weeks.

I predict that the Jays will win easily today. No reason, just my gut feeling that Navarro will come through big today. Smoak also is due for a big game.

I expect Blue Jays to be solid defensively. It will be interesting to see what Ben Revere can do on the bases and in LF. He is a real threat to steal a base.

Really? Did you hear him the other day when he said he has never been replaced defensively. Dude is a gamer.

Blue Jays really know how to put a damper on things after an exciting day and night. DFA a quality player. Keep a s***** one and bench one of our best hitters lol.

It's the blue jay way

I don't think he is being replaced defensively since he is an excellent SS. I am sure it is just a day off to keep Tulowitzki rested.

It is very likely that we will see him in the ball game at some point if the game is close or the Jays get behind. If the Jays get up by several runs then he can take a full game off.

Tulowitzki has missed quite a bit of time in the past based on his games played each year - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=3531&position=SS . I am now a big fan of Tulowitzki so I want to see him playing effectively in Toronto for several years with hopefully none on the DL.
