ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 You've got to think that ownership will give AA an extension. I mean, what owner would allow their GM to make the moves AA has made since last off season and then fire him at season's end? We'll have to wait and see.

Jays will hire Billy Beane as his new president and his first move will be trade Donaldson, again.
nextyear Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Prior to the trades, I strongly disapproved but now I approve. The Blue Jays have lost prospects, some of which might turn out to be good MLB players, but I think it is important for the team and fans to get to the playoffs, otherwise the team might have a tough time attracting impact players like Tulowitzki and Donaldson in the future. I think that success leads to more success. Also financially, the additional ticket sales and merchandise sales will probably pay for the higher salaries and improve the bottom line.

Nabru Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 This thread was premature. Today, the Toronto Blue Jays confirmed that they believe Colabello > Valencia. Truly unfathomable. When Beeston goes, AA and Gibbons should follow immediately. That shouldn't be up for discussion. This org needs someone who understands what a good 25 man roster is. Year after year, we see that AA has no clue. What's that saying? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. In this case, this is how many times fans have been suckered in by these knobs who run this org?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I'm on the fence. the major moves at the deadline are nice.... but when u are in the position where you have to overhaul a decent portion of your lineup in order to take a shot at the wildcard, it makes me think it probably won't work.
LTR Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Personally, I love what AA has done to improve the line-up... patched up all the cracks and holes. Tulo = no more Reyes shakey defense and clumsy bat Revere = no more s*** defense in LF, now a decent lead-off bat (temporarily until Travis is back) Really solid defense all across the diamond, particularly with Smoak at 1B. Navarro is a fine back-up catcher, would prefer he had less playing time though, as Martin is a stud. Though it's possible that Pompey would have done more for the club than Revere, at least with Revere you pretty much know what you're getting.

Take defense out of the equation, and I think Colabello is a better hitter than Valenica, and I think they're looking at Colabello as a platoon/DH/1B/pinch hitter.
