Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I like this trade as it now gives us a CF that can platoon with Pillar and also play LF when Saunders is back to provide him time off as well.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Based on AA's comments at the presser right now it looks like they view Revere as a 4th OF once Saunders is back. The fact that they're not going to misuse him and they value him for exactly what he is makes this deal so much better than I thought it would have been. Strongly approve.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Hitting a lot of singles does not make you a good hitter though being a .300 hitter with the ability to steal a base at will makes you a good hitter. not everything is about power.

If he comes back. I have a feeling they may just non-tender him now that they have Revere, Pillar, Danny V showing he can do an OK job out there, Pompey waiting in the wings. Maybe he gets a shot in September but I'd imagine they'll go with the hot hands since they have big games in September. They could non-tender him and offer him a deal for less but he might be a dead man walking.

I still think Saunders is their #1 guy with Revere being a guy that can come in late, steal a base, play D, play 3-4 games a week and keep Saunders, Pillar and Bautista fresh.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Alex said they're gonna make some important roster decisions tomorrow, hopefully one involves a certain Italian butcher on his way back to Buffalo

Could be possible. I see that more likely occurring next year unless Saunders has great numbers in rehab, they activate him, and he comes up swinging. He could be non tendered and resigned for a lower amount and brought back next year. I think it comes down to the state of his knee injury and if it's still effecting him or not. We'll see how things play out but I see them going with the hottest hands, and whomever is playing the best at the time. If it's Saunders than it's an additional bonus since it's like getting another player out of nowhere since he's been down so long.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 two nothing prospects alright whatever is revere projected to be a huge upgrade to pompey? what is the point of this move? More proven. For all we know Pompey could come up and hit under .200. It wasn't the most necessary of moves but the price was low so why not, at worst you have a cost controlled 4th outfielder for the next 2 years.

jays76 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 So that we have a back up MIF while Travis is hurt and Goins is starting, that should be beyond obvious. But the dude is also HILARIOUS. I'm liking this WS calibre team chemistry amirite?
jays76 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 http://www.gifmambo.com/media/691604_charlton-heston-laugh.gif Charlton Heston going bananas in a world full of apes. Classic!

He could give you some nice offense, be the 4th OF or if all else fails you non-tender him or trade him and get back something even if it's just replacing the two minor leaguers.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Tirado #15..................Jesse Biddle #19 lol

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Everything is about power o2, why do you think they pay a premium for it
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Pete Rose just called to say you are incorrect. Rose had great walk rates and hit doubles
bendera3 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I think he's available this year or next but I'd like to find a way to get Biddle from the Phils. I think he has potential.

Jayday Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 AA did a good job, but damn we better not be paying too much for Revere. We, I'm not paying a thing for him.. you been helping the bluejays out ?
Jayday Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I like this trade as it now gives us a CF that can platoon with Pillar and also play LF when Saunders is back to provide him time off as well. Saunders is expendable .. looking for AA to ship him out.
Jayday Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Stealing bases has nothing to do with hitting You have to be on the bases to be able to steal one.
TRM Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 You have to be on the bases to be able to steal one. Right. Hitting has to do with stealing bases, but stealing bases has nothing to do with hitting.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 You have to be on the bases to be able to steal one. Thats nice. We're still talking about a players ability to hit a baseball, not how fast he can run on the basepaths. Ben Revere is a solid all around player and below average hitter.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Revere costs nothing for the Jays this year.
