Governator Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Be nice to not have to put Drew Hutchison on the base paths late in games.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 He is disliked because hes the anti sabermetrics player whos value is based entirely off tools. How does this make sense?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Wait, people aren't interested in Ben Revere? He'd be a pretty great pickup if Amaro isn't asking for the world.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I think that is the issue.... No not really. There's seem to be a lot of outright hate for Revere.

While he may not have the consistency on the base stealing ability, Pompey would probably be able to fill just as well, if not better, defensively and offensively as Revere.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Revere is fine. Makes contact, puts pressure on defenses, and there is very little doubt about what he'll give you as he's been pretty much the exact same player throughout his career (seriously his numbers have been so similar every year) and he doesn't make many mistakes (running or OF).
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 The only problem is that his arm is the worst in the league. But that won't be much of an issue I suppose. All we need is someone who can field.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 He kind of can, though. .331 OBP as a Philly is decent. He's also piled up 3.8 fWAR since start of last year... a useful player. I don't get it, he'd cost next to nothing too.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I don't get it, he'd cost next to nothing too. Not necessarily with Amaro but even if we overpay a bit, big deal. This team is all in. Might as well finish the roster for once. This is not the time to quibble over lesser prospects.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Gibbons said yesterday on Tim and Sid, he'd want all his best bats in the top of the order to get the most AB's, (he wouldn't bat Revere lead-off), he was also a little down that Travis reinjured his shoulder...wanted Travis leading off. I'm sad too, Gibby!

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 He's probably close to a half win improvement ROS over the replacement level LF we currently use. He's good for 2+ WAR and has two more years of control (for his Age 28 and 29 seasons) after this too. Despite all of his faults he wouldn't be a bad pickup depending on the price.

Yup, bring up Pompey and DFA both Cola and Carrera.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Is there a chance the Jays wanted to showcase Cola for someone else? I'd love for that to be the explanation though I doubt it.

Pompey has almost no track record in MLB and the record his has is NOT very flattering. Revere is a player who we KNOW can do the job. there is no room for a learning curve now. why bring in a starter and two back end relief guys and one of the best SS in baseball and then let some hack or an unproven kid play LF?? The organization is naked and has it's condom on... they're long past foreplay.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 f*** nooooo Bahaha f*** you and your goat
