Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 What's the debate about here? Nobody thinks Colabello is an all star or even an every day player ... And nobody thinks Cola's BAPIP will continue to hover anywhere close to the Rod Carew stratosphere ... lol And Gibbons is handling the first base situation pretty much perfectly with Smoak starting against most righties and in there for late inning defence. Gibbons has handled it just fine, it wasn't his fault Cola played in LF, we had no depth.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 The numbers are interesting on the guy. Aside from just the math, his approach at the plate seems to be so solid. He is hitting the ball to all fields with authority consistently. I've been so skeptical of the guy at the plate, but I have to start to believe he is a legit MLB + bat. His D on the other hand... I remember calling Juan Francisco V.02 2015 early on. That was dumb

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 So glad the guy with the .656 OPS against RHP this year got the start instead of the guy with the .892 OPS against RHP. Not to mention that Colabello is hitting 1.325 OPS in August and Smoak is hitting .555 OPS But we need to play Smoak because he's marginally better at defense, and because he has a low BABIP, like that's supposed to be a good thing.

I'm glad we're on the same page now Adam.

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Haha. The same thing happened in reverse last night. We need to keep this bashing up. It's good luck.
