What about all the games he threw away

Everybody makes mistakes, even you. It seems as if almost every time you open your mouth to speak or to post (nonsense most of the time) it's negative yet no one throws you under the bus. Contract aside, I really liked him as a player. Some of those routine misplays were truly unbelievable however he brought excitement to the game and good camaraderie with the team members. Not everyone ages at the same rate and I feel he is deteriorating faster than I expected - lack of range and maybe a failing eyesight (my opinion).

Anyway, baseball can be quite the roller-coaster ride so it is better to be prepared for shortcomings and not expect everyone to play perfectly all the time.

part of the down time was from an absolute freak injury. He was a good player with lots of energy. I think most people hated the contract and what was given up in the Miami deal. Tulo contract is the same and for longer. We need to hope he's happy in TO and is reasonably healthy or else his contract will kill us

The ankle injury to start off his BlueJays' tenure was really hard to take - so much anticipation followed by disappointment. The Jays do seem to be jinxed in a weird way Just got Travis back, great start off HR and then the injury. Knowing that Valencia, Carrera, and Goins are all on the field at the same time was such a stomach-turning feeling however it could have been worse. It could have been Valencia (2B), Carrera (RF), Goins (SS), and Colabello (LF). I am hurting, but laughing as well, at the sheer absurdity of this situation - So much potential yet so much bad luck.

I'm sure he is a nice guy. He did have a lot of energy. I don't have anything personal against him.

I haven't seen a lot of Tulo, but Reyes' hacking at every pitch really frustrated me. Hopefully Tulo doesn't have the same tendency (although I thought I heard his K rate was high but I'm not a numbers whiz).

He K's a lot but he also walks a lot. Different kind of hitter altogether. More selective.

His personality is awesome. Always hated how some people just decided to interpret that as not caring about winning. Reyes was pretty damn frustrating at times, especially with the hacking, especially with trying to be too cute, and ESPECIALLY with the defensive side of the ball, but I have never really thought of him as slacking off.

Reyes definitely had an infectious personality. At times he was playful making those around him relax and smile yet he was also intense which would ignite and fire up the passion and desire of teammates to do well. I will miss him but I am also excited to see what kind of excitement our new SS will bring to the team and to the fans as well.

Its been really only this season that his K rate is higher than his career norm. Previous seasons he didn't K that much for the type of power hitter he is, which is quite remarkable.

My main problem wasn't so much about Reyes, but how I envisioned how the organization would handle him as his skills continued to degrade.

His salary aside, if the Jays could have found a way to move him down in the order, replaced him late in the game with Goins, convinced him to consider a move to LF, then having Reyes on this roster is a lot more palatable.

I just got the feeling that for whatever reason, this organization would have left him locked in at short and at leadoff throughout the duration of his contract, even if it wasn't in the best interest of this team because of #veteran.

I never had a problem with Reyes as the Jays shortstop. At the time of his acquisition, he was probably the best shortstop the Jays had this past decade in terms of offensive potential and talent wise. Outside of Scutaro's masterful 2009 performance (4.2 WAR) and the good year Yunel Escobar had before he crashed, it finally looked like the Jays solved the position over the next 4-5 years with Reyes as their shortstop and leadoff hitter.

I've always been a fan of Reyes, as he was one of the most exciting players to watch in his glory days with the Mets. Obviously, the Jays weren't getting that Reyes unfortunately and I think with all the optimism that offseason, many fans were expecting the Mets version of Jose Reyes. Injuries each season with the Jays took their toll, impacting his running game and fielding as well + him getting older impacted his performance - he's basically been the same player as he was with the Marlins in 2012, which I think people with rational expectations signed up for and I'm sure many casuals would have been happy with as well if he played more. However, due to his contract structure, what the Jays traded to land Reyes in that package (remember Josh Johnson did poorly and I'm sure that also left a sour taste in many peoples views on the overall trade as they probably expected Reyes and MB to exceed expectations to make it a worthwhile trade) and the fact that Reyes missed chunks of time on the DL never playing 150 + games in a single season, all had something to do with the fans misconception that Reyes was a disappointment. Plus, all the timely errors he made were heavily magnified by the media which even put a further cloud on his tenure with the Jays.

Overall, Tulo is a far better shortstop, no questions asked. The Jays just landed arguably the best shortstop in baseball and we should all be f***ing excited! End of conversation.

He typically strikes out at a below average rate. Up this year to around average.

Agreed, nobody else hated Reyes here... or wait...

Reyes sucks

that Reyes character is a real problem

Reyes sucks with any runner in scoring position and just sucks in general

He suck anyway; We are paying too much for him.

f***ing piece of s*** Reyes, get this guy of the field,

Reyes........... No amount of hits can make up for this garbage

Id rather just trade reyes to anyone who will take him and sign Jed Lowrie and Asdrubal with his money.

Holy f*** Reyes is so clueless.

Reyes sucks dick

Can Reyes just f*** off?!?!

Send Reyes to Buffalo and try to get him to retire. He's a 6million a year DH with no defensive range - even less than the mascot Saki

Reyes sucks defensively.

I really dislike reyes

Stupid player

Lazy

Ugh.......

DL Reyes for 15 days.

I had enough of this f***ing ********. Defense is the key to winning and it isn't happening with Reyes at SS.

If only we signed Stephen Drew, so Reyes can be moved off shortstop

True but Reyes is gonna cost the jays a few games with his glove

AGAIN' date=' reyes and his lazy ******** attitude cost this team runs, except now in the other direction. 2 runs instead of nobody on and 2 out.[/quote']

reyes, pathetic

im so sick of reyes

Reyes sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want reyes off this team hes been an injury bag and error machine fuk him

And because of the throw Bautista almost got hit in the head just like Eddy against Teixeria. Reyes is literally hurting our team.

Reyes f*** OFF

Reyes is so disappointing....thought we were getting a star..

DFA Reyes

Jesus Reyes sucks.

Reys with a s*** throw again! Man he is f***ing horrible

Wow reyes really knows how to deflate a happy atmosphere

Fire AA.

Seriously. He had a SS signed for $5m a season and he ends up trading for this douchebag with a billion dollars and an eternity left on his deal.

f*** you, Reyes.

Reyes is garbage in the field

Shallow... but you gotta send him there. Perfect throw.

Reyes looks like he's really lost a step btw.

They do but Reyes sucks more.

When are they going to bench Reyes ,he is absolutely useless when it comes to defense.

He should not be part of this team.It is not the first time he caused a loss.

f*** you reyes, just f*** you. and go to hell. i'm pissed

f*** You Reyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reyes has really bad at bats sometimes

Never going to make the playoffs with Reyes and Dickey

If Reyes gets hit by lightening in Chicago tonight...I won't be mad

I think Troy Glaus looked better at shortstop than Reyes does now. Don't care what any advanced stats might say, he's brutal.

kawasaki has done more than reyes at a fraction of the cost

Hopefully one without Reyes in the starting lineup

I have hated Reyes from day one.

Holy s*** Reyes sucks.

Time to DH reyes until he is healthy...errors are killing us

I Hate Reyes Fan Club.

Reyes is bad

f*** You Reyes!

Reyes teh sucks

f***ing Reyes is going to bring me to start drinking again.

Have to say...I won't miss that feeling I would get every time a ball was hit to SS with Reyes there....

The main goal of this trade was to get Reyes off this team.

Reyes continues to look terrible, needs a day off

f***, forgot to mention how bad Colby and Reyes are...

Reyes is so bad

Reyes you f***

Reyes 0-6 with 9 LOB. POS

Pay half of reyes salary this year remaining and half going forward, get him off this team, please!

That list is a who's who of the forum's dumbest posters.

It's just a SSS, there's a lot more. Reyes was hated a lot here. Maybe you don't care because you're a Rays fan but most Blue Jays fans were put through a lot of stress with that loser.
