TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 The only way an Indians starter is coming our way is if the Jays move multiple bats (or Joey Bats...not happening nor is Donaldson so I take them out of the equation). While the Jays having the best offense we'd be a good fit but chances are the Jays just wouldn't move what it takes.

Well if they want an MLB ready piece they have to pick from Pompey, Pillar and Travis. And I'm not parting with the latter. And I don't want to give up two of our outfielders.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 They can always move guys around. Travis also played CF briefly.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 With trade deadline season seemingly right about to pop, I thought it'd be a good time to try and spark some discussion and get people's opinions on what they think about certain players or trade possibilities. IYO stands for "In Your Opinion"; if it turns out that people aren't interested in this kind of thing, then this thread could be a one-off. If it does create some discussion, then maybe we can have somewhat of a series, where periodically we post a thread to gather opinions and to try and generate some general baseball discussion. I didn't research the Indians needs, I'm not sure if they'd say yes to this package, I'm not even sure Carrasco is really available on the market. There's absolutely no rhyme or reason to the package I put together, other than the simple fact that I tried to match the Donaldson trade as well as I could, and thought that I'd get your opinions on if you'd make a similar trade once again. Feel free to comment on how you think Carrasco's value compares to what Donaldson's was at the time he was traded, whether or not you think the Jays bought Donaldson below his market value and how you would compensate for that in a trade for Carrasco, and if you think there are prospects in the Jays system closer to the value of the guys the Jays gave up in that trade than what I listed above. Bonus question: If you answered no to the trade proposal above, would you say yes if it was for Chris Archer instead? Not happening but yes. and yes to bonus question. Its a bit of addition by subtraction with loss of Hutch but if Stro is what we hope it gives us a 2015 upgrade in the now and 2016 looks much stronger...front end of rotation.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 well then lets hope that the Rays are forced to sell both Longo and Archer when they come into financial trouble shortly.
polar bear Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I would lol at anyone who says no at that package for Archer. Voted no to proposed trade, but a big yes for same package for Archer.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 They traded Sabathia to the Brewers (for Michael Brantley and other stuff), who rode him on short rest to 4.7 fWAR in less than half a season lol. That 2008 Brewers team was really exciting. Oh right, it was the Brewers who used him up

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Ken Rosenthal #Indians, though, not inclined to move a starter; would need huge return. #BlueJays made big push for Carrasco. Didn’t get done.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 The Rays would want a lot more. Archer is an ace on an even better contract than Carrasco. Which is incredible, considering how we all felt prior to the season. http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/4248-Would-you-rather-employ-Stroman-Tanaka-Porcello-Archer-or-Cobb
Hawkins Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Trading Hutchinson only provides a small upgrade for this year. I propose Pompey, SRF, Castro and Bourn (Indians pay remaining contract for this year Jays pay full contract next year and limit his at-bats so he doesn't get 550 ab's to vest his option for 2017.)

If he can have that delivery and his mechanics cleaned up to where he has more deception and can get more whiffs...

Exist others variables in the equation. Sanchez is nothing, bro!!

JuniorFelix Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Voted yes, but losing Hutchison in the deal makes it feel like not enough of an upgrade for a playoff push. Feels more like an off-season type of move depending on how Alford continues to progress. Castro as well. Archer is a no-brainer though. He is too good to pass on.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 If the Indians didn't have a franchise 2B we would have something to offer that would have value for them

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Sanchez is something that is trending towards nothing. Isn't quite there yet. Amaro is going to be fired very soon and Stewart traded Touki who's better asset.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 What about Encarnacion + Castro + Alford? Would that be a fair trade for both teams? (I know Edwin would likely VETO the trade)

SomeClevelandFan Verified Member Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I have another proposal folks! A three way trade! Blue Jays need starters, Pirates need Relief pitchers, Indians need offense! Indians trade Carrasco to Blue Jays. Indians trade Ryan Webb to Pirates. Blue Jays trade Miguel Castro to Pirates. Pirates trade Harold Ramirez to Indians. Blue Jays trade Indians Pompey and Hoffman. In Short: Jays lose Pompey/Hoffman/Castro but gain Carrasco Pirates lose Harold Ramirez but gain Ryan Webb and Miguel Castro. Indians gain Pompey/Hoffman/Ramirez.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Hahaha...I remember that commercial.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I would have done that deal. Yeah, but Cleveland didn't, meat.
