baubau Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 We don't really need a reliever. How about Hamels and Shark? Carassco. The end.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I'd still like to get Iwakuma in addition to someone else. Shouldn't be too expensive prospect or money wise.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 We don't really need a reliever. How about Hamels and Shark? Fiers and Carrasco
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I was actually working on a discussion thread about Carrasco as you posted this. I really like Carrasco, but if the Jays could grab Ross for a significantly lower price, that's exactly the way I would go. In terms of rentals, my list would probably be Shark > Price > Cueto. I don't think the difference in cost between Samardzija and the other two elite guys would justify the much higher price tag. The guys over in the Jays reddit posed a similar question here, and my answer for top three pitching targets was Ross, Shark and Chapman.
BlueJaysCC Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 I would honestly prefer a combination of Shields and Carrasco if possible.
BlueJaysCC Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 How would this look as a rotation if AA was able to pull a couple of trades off? Carrasco Shields or Ross Hutch Buehrle Dickey
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 How would this look as a rotation if AA was able to pull a couple of trades off? Carrasco Shields or Ross Hutch Buehrle Dickey Great except for Dickey. He suxxxxxx Realistically, we could get CC or Shields but not both. I like Angrioter's suggestion of Fiers. Though I guess it depends on how dumb Preller is and if he'd dump Shields for nothing...

Carrasco Shields or Ross Hutch Buehrle Dickey It's funny how that's still not the most ideal stretch rotation, because you still have to bank on the volatility of Hutch and Dickey, but of course it's a thousand times better than what they're currently rolling with. That said, I can't see the Jays being able to afford both Carrasco and Ross without obliterating all hopes for the future. Maybe Ross and Samardzija? If you can get Shark for a similar price to what Kazmir went for, you might be able to pick up Ross and a pen guy and still possibly be holding on to three of your top prospects.

I agree, however Dickey has pitched well as of late, he has just been unlucky due to a lack of run support.
BlueJaysCC Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 Shields would be a good idea if the Padres were to eat some of that contract. The Jays need a veteran pitcher who can eat innings as Dickey and Buehrle will most likely be gone after the season. Shields has been very durable in his career and, he also has playoff experience and has pitched in this division before, which are both valuable.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Carrasco is on a nice contract too 2015 - $2,337,000 2016 - $4,500,000 2017 - $6,500,000 2018 - $8,000,000 2019 - $9,000,000 Team Option, $662.5k Buyout 2020 - $9,500,000 Team Option, $662.5k Buyout

43211234 Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I posted in the Jays reddit today about what would be fair for Carrasco, and I got downvoted to the point of censorship. Then I started to explain but nobody would listen. It was frustrating lol Do yourself a favour and never visit that place.
