Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 First off, I think we can agree that projection is a bit low. Travis has proven himself to be a better hitter than that. Second, if we ONLY TAKE INTO ACCOUNT stats from THIS SEASON, Travis is like our 5th best hitter, so I'm not sure what the f*** Jonn is talking about. If he wasn't injured and played through said injury...I could see him as our 3rd best hitter

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I firmly believe Travis is a top 3 second baseman in the game atm behind Pedroia/Dozier. If he didn't get hurt he may have been 1.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Does Jonn really believe that Colabelo and Valencia will continue to hit better than Edwin?

There's no way you can "firmly believe this" without being completely naive though, you've only seen 1 month of good performance.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Man, I had no idea Jason Kipnis died. Too bad, such a talented young player.

I would temper expectations. I love Travis, and he's been amazing, but he won't continue to hit THIS well. He could be a top 5 2nd baseman in the AL though. I'd put Altuve, Pedroia, Kinsler, ?Cano?, and Dozier ahead of him. Remember the ridiculously hot start Brett Lawrie got off to in his first year. EDIT: forgot Kipnis
LTR Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 I just have so much fun sometimes. It's so cute how you got this little segue out of your derp statement.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Man, I had no idea Jason Kipnis died. Too bad, such a talented young player. There's some crazy talk in this thread right now
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Does Jonn really believe that Colabelo and Valencia will continue to hit better than Edwin? I'm more worried about Ed continuing to hit worse that Cola and Valencia... just sayin

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Man, I had no idea Jason Kipnis died. Too bad, such a talented young player. Kipnis is obviously having a great season but i wouldn't take him over my top 3 over the next 3-5 years.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Valencia has been pushed ahead of Carrera as LF option At least until AA either gets another OF or Saunders comes off the DL.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I firmly believe Travis is a top 3 second baseman in the game atm behind Pedroia/Dozier. If he didn't get hurt he may have been 1. Kipnis? Howie Kendrick?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Do any of you actually think Saunders will play for the Jays ever again ? He has not been a team player and doesn't have the decency to even attend games. Given the drunken photos of him recently, I don't think he respects the Blue Jay uniform whatsoever. He's on the DL.. if it weren't for that knee injury he'd be here right now.

You firmly believe that Travis is a better player than Kipnis, Altuve, Walker, Gordon, Wong, Kinsler, and Kendrick?

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 The kid has an amazing approach that's going to lead to huge babips and 20hr power. With good marks in base running and defense. He will be a WAR machine.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Anyone want to tell me why our third best hitter is hitting 9th? 3rd best, wut? Yup. Please list our hitters best to worst with Travis 3rd so we can all get a laugh. I like Travis but he is not our 3rd best f***ing hitter. C'mon Jonn.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I like Travis but he is not our 3rd best f***ing hitter. C'mon Jonn. Who is?
IronLadle Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Anyone want to tell me why our third best hitter is hitting 9th? This f***ing winding me up too, the lineup looks so much better with him in the 2 spot
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Who is? We have this Edwin guy, he's a pretty good hitter.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 We have this Edwin guy, he's a pretty good hitter. At the moment an argument can be made that Travis is better
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 At the moment an argument can be made that Travis is better yep, the injury has slowed Eddy down a bit.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 At the moment an argument can be made that Travis is better Based on 180 MLB plate appearances?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Based on 180 MLB plate appearances? Yep...."at the moment" Never said over the whole year and past years.....just this moment
