HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Looks like rain. Hopefully we'll get a another double header tomorrow #NapGate #NapTogether
LTR Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Based on forecast I don't expect a rainout or any significant delays.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Looks like rain. Hopefully we'll get a another double header tomorrow #NapGate #NapTogether or start the game, and get a looong rain delay in the early innings, and Sale can't come back out.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Valencia has been pushed ahead of Carrera as LF option
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Anyone want to tell me why our third best hitter is hitting 9th? maybe they don't want to put too much pressure on him to early.
LTR Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Anyone want to tell me why our third best hitter is hitting 9th? 3rd best, wut?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I thought the only reason he was up here is to play defense backing up all three OF spots. He sucks defensively so should be sent down for someone who can play great defense. yeah... Carrera sucks defensively. He's not a horrible bat for an elite defender, but he's a s***** bat for a guy who can't track the ball, throw the ball or even know where to throw the ball if he happens to pick it up when it stops rolling.
LTR Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Ez sucks defensively but he's better than Valencia and Colabello, our only other options right now.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Need a big night from MB. It would be great to start the series with a win.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Anyone want to tell me why our third best hitter is hitting 9th? Actually Reyes is still projected to have a higher on base percentage the rest of the way then Travis... so from that perspective it makes sense. Or in other words Travis doesn't have enough sample size yet to show if he is really a .290 hitter...
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Anyone want to tell me why our third best hitter is hitting 9th? because it's not a video game.
LTR Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Yup. Please list our hitters best to worst with Travis 3rd so we can all get a laugh.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Here's what my lineup would be: Reyes Travis Bautista Donaldson Edwin Russell Smoak Valencia Pillar
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Ez sucks defensively but he's better than Valencia and Colabello, our only other options right now. disagree completely. Colabello and Valencia are not good defenders but Carrera is absolutely horrible. Valencia has by far the best arm of the 3. Carrera is fast but gets the worst reads and really bad reaction times. If he could actually catch the balls he gets to he wouldn't be as bad, but he can't even do that regularly. he has at least 3 errors this year on balls that have STOPPED rolling!?!?!? at least the other 2 can pick the ball on when it's standing still. No the other two are not good options but that is what the jays have until Pompey comes back.

If either of those other two were out there they would have done just as horrible.
LTR Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Here's what my lineup would be: Reyes Travis Bautista Donaldson Edwin Russell Smoak Valencia Pillar Can we not put the guy with less then average projections in the position designated for your best hitter? #ComeOn Travis had a great first month, but there's no way he's even that good. People need to temper their expectations a bit. And why do people think Smoak can hit lefties? Optimum line-up vs L: Reyes Bautista Donaldson Encarnacion Valencia Martin Travis Navarro Pillar

He has NO clue where he is supposed to throw the ball and has a weak and wild arm. one game would be fine, but it's pretty much every time the ball is hit to him. but sure... you're welcome to think he's passable as a defender.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Dodgers starting Yimi Garcia tonight then going to bring in there lefty Erik Surkamp to mow down all the Phillies left handers. Jays should prob do this tomorrow with a Delabar/Tepera then bring in a Doubront.

He's bad believe me i know. I don't think you understand how bad Bello and Valencia are though.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 He's bad believe me i know. I don't think you understand how bad Bello and Valencia are though. I know.... they are not good, but they both have a better arm than Carrera and that really speaks to how bad Carrera's arm is because Cola doens't have a very good arm, but Cola has an idea of where to throw the ball, Valencia is better. out of the three I'd take Danny V, but he will have to continue to rake against LHP. if not I'd take Smoak at first and Cola in LF.
LTR Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Why do you need a list. Travis has been our third best hitter when healthy this season. Unless you like to list by batting average? One month of good play does make a hitter our "third best hitter". Devon Travis Depth Chart projection: 94 wRC+ Third best hitter
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 just noticed the game is a 2am start. crap...

LTR Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Projections don't always predict reality I'm going to go ahead and prefer the years of weighted & calculated projections over the one month of performance. That's just me though, you do your thing.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 One month of good play does make a hitter our "third best hitter". Devon Travis Depth Chart projection: 94 wRC+ Third best hitter First off, I think we can agree that projection is a bit low. Travis has proven himself to be a better hitter than that. Second, if we ONLY TAKE INTO ACCOUNT stats from THIS SEASON, Travis is like our 5th best hitter, so I'm not sure what the f*** Jonn is talking about.
