SAAviour Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 @MLBNetworkRadio: Anthopoulos: If I did have to prioritize I'd say rotation 1st and bullpen would be next. #BlueJays @MLBNetworkRadio: Anthopoulos: Very few teams are willing to do anything early...Really might only team be one willing to do anything now. #BlueJays i feel there should be more teams willing to throw in the towel at this point. Chi sox, Boston, Oakland. Miami, Colorado, Milwaukee, Phillies.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I feel like throwing up when I hear that man talk.
Jonzo Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Our bullpen is pretty damn good! just ask Wilner
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Get a starter and move Sanchize to the bullpen. Fixes two weak spots in one transaction (assuming Sanchez is a good reliever).
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Did he end the interview with "thanks guys, enjoyed it"?
McDude Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Did he end the interview with "thanks guys, enjoyed it"? LOL, Probably..
Jonzo Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 The only reason he says that is because usually during phone interviews, he is smashing a souvlaki with loads of tziki.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Cincy is already out of it as well and has a pretttty good pitcher that's set to become a free agent.

Cueto is exactly what the doctor ordered. Legit front end starter, no financial obligation next year, will be instantly welcomed by the dominican contingent... That said he'll be very coveted and I don't think this team goes balls out to win this year as much as it's nice to dream about it.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Has he watched any of these f***IN GAMES!!!! How many games has this f***in pen lost in the last inning
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 How many games has this f***in pen lost in the last inning 4. I believe that answer is 4.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Has he watched any of these f***IN GAMES!!!! How many games has this f***in pen lost in the last inning How many innings did the starter go today? Jesus, did you just forget half of the game or something?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Right priority. However, remember, leading up to the off season, we were all expecting him to go all out on relievers since he said publicly that he thought the bullpen cost them the season in 2014. Basically, he's full of shitvlaki.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 He needs to be fired first. Let someone competent find pitching help for this team.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 How many innings did the starter go today? Jesus, did you just forget half of the game or something? Actually i just turned the game on and new nothing about it.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 the way this team is built, upgrading the BP should be priority. they can overcome bad starts. they can't overcome BP meltdowns. no team can. AA is out to lunch. needs to be canned ASAP.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Blue Jays' bullpen has 3rd ranked SIERA in the entire league.
frizzer1 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I don't think AA is that stupid. I think it all comes down to money , as in there isn't any. They got the increase 3 years ago and blew it and haven't spent since. And I will continue to believe that until they actually spend some..

Rogers put this franchise in a position to win something years ago, but has probably now realized that its not going to happen. I pray that DD can still be brought here.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Wait, so the Martin signing was just a dream I had? Payroll didn't increase. That's probably what he means buy didn't "spend".
jays76 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Payroll didn't increase. That's probably what he means buy didn't "spend". Exactly. AA held back money this off season so there should be some flexibility for a significant move (especially considering Beeston's promises of a payroll increase). Jays have cash, assets, and a few roster players who are expendable so we'll see if they make a big move this year. If not there needs to be a full blown riot at the Rogers Centre.

theblujay Verified Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Let's just trade Norris already!! We have plenty of young top starters in the minors and majors (Hoffman Castro Osuna Boyd Sanchez.....) we can't fit them all anyway. Norris ++ for Hamels or Cueto or whoever.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 This guy does a great parody. Wilner Is it Early? @Wilnerisitearly 2h2 hours ago For those calling for major overhaul of #BlueJays bullpen, facts show it had a WHIP UNDER 1.00 for a full month. That is really really good.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 My prediction is that we ultimately acquire Clippard and Kazmir from Oakland. May have to move some salary out, since their combined salary is about 22mil this year, so pro-rate depending on when a trade takes place, and i may be more than the jays can afford.

They got the increase 3 years ago and blew it and haven't spent since. And I will continue to believe that until they actually spend some.. This, although the argument that a $126m payroll should be enough to build a winner has merit. Here are the payrolls of the league leaders in the AL: >TB with $76m >KC with $113m >Houston with $72.5m [Wild cards - Minnesota $108m and the Yankees $218m in the 2 spots, followed by Texas $142m, Baltimore $119m] So only 2 teams in the top 7 spots have a larger payroll than Toronto. The difference in fact is more pronounced in the NL: >Washington $162m >St. Louis $122m >LA Dodgers $271m [Wild Card - Pittsburgh $90m, Cubs $120m, followed by SF $173m and the Mets at $101m] Here 3 teams have a higher payroll and 2 have comparable wage bills.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Again Oakland isn't done. They are a good team and will factor in AL West
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Lets revisit at 7/31. Because of their financial situation, Beane is usually forced to be decisive one way or the other sooner than a lot of teams are, who can afford to take a wait and see approach. Thats a lot of the reason why he went ahead and traded Samardzija, Donaldson, etc.

Clippard's been off all year...I'd be wary.
