SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Even if he doesn't he seems like a pretty good bet for 2.5 WAR. I'll that that at league min. for a CF anyday. Why wouldn't he have the same defence next year? Do you think he's more like Cola in real life?
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Why wouldn't he have the same defence next year? Do you think he's more like Cola in real life? Because he'll be another year older and defense doesn't plateau. It gets worse the older you get.
nextyear Verified Member Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Tulo available off the bench today? If it is a blow out win and he just has to field for an inning or two, then maybe since he can throw and field. It would be good to get him into a game for an inning or two. He could go in for Goins or Pennington and then be subbed by Darwin Barney in the field and a pinch hitter.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I wonder what will happen with AA. Think he'll be offered a new contract?
nextyear Verified Member Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I wonder what will happen with AA. Think he'll be offered a new contract? Yes, he has become a good, experienced GM.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I'd like to see an outfield of Revere-Pillar-Saunders next year, with Pompey as the 4th guy. Bautista can get starts at both 1B and RF next year. We need to start transitioning him to 1B if we plan on re-signing him. Revere JD Bautista Edwin Tulo Martin Saunders Travis Pillar FAP

It was Shapiro's predecessor Paul Beeston's rule not to go beyond five years on free-agent deals, but the new regime understands it will take more than five to keep ace David Price, and it won't have such a rule. It does appear they will give it a shot -- though it won't be easy to beat the Dodgers, Cubs, possibly Red Sox (new president Dave Dombrowski acquired Price for Detroit) and others.

baubau Verified Member Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Ftfy If only! This team should spend that $20M on a pitcher like Shark or trade for Shields. Unless they've found a extra $40M in the budget then yeah, plz splurg on Heyward.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Ftfy Lol I would love to have Heyward but I just don't see it. Front office is gonna go hard after pitching this offseason. This team can do without Heyward.

I see AA trading Pompey before he trades Pillar.
Wolf Verified Member Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 You don't move Pillar and "hope" that Pompey turns into a better player than Pillar. Pompey right now is all potential. You don't know what you're going to get from him.

Pillar may not age well as a lot of his value comes from his speed, on the bases and outfield for defensive coverage. You've got a few good years left in that tank before it starts to slow down. He should consistently provide more value than Revere heading forward. I am hoping AA/MS can woo Dequette and get him drunk/angry to trade Gausman for Revere.

Maybe they can pull off Morrow trade 2.0 and do Sanchez for Gausman.

Well they traded Arrieta for less so there is hope! Easily do that trade too. With MS coming on board I can see Sanchez getting dealt.
