It's not rose coloured glasses to get excited. It's rose coloured glasses to say this is a great team. But the word great is arbitrary and relative; so maybe the entire debate is nonsensical anyway.

This is a great team. It's the best Jays team since '93 hands down.

Confirmed. 2015 team is the best since 1993.

We haven't had any great teams since 1993, we've often had great hitting or great pitching, but never both (and defense).

Wow 2012 sucked bad.

Literally 4/5ths of our rotation suffering significant injuries and the other 5th diarrheaing the bed in ways you couldn't even begin to imagine (Romero) didn't help. Hell, Jose missed huge parts of that year and Escobar forgot how to hit, so our only reliable hitter was Edwin.

I hope not so that he magically floats away one day when his troll attempts and generally stupid posts go largely unnoticed.

Despite this we were still only 2gb of the second wildcard on July 19

I've waited 22yrs for a team this good and Toronto may never field another lineup of this calibre. Let's enjoy it while it lasts!

LTR...are you even a fan? lol.

Refraining from saying the team is not "great" and then confirming that it's the best team since 1993 makes me not a fan?

I anticipated 2006's squad would be high-ish. Good to know my memory of them is pretty on-point!. 2006 was probably the most exciting year in recent memory until this one (if you can even call it recent at this point).

I remember that one. Unfortunately, AJ Burnett's early-season injury and Josh Towers cost us a playoff spot.

Lol not even close. They finished 8 games out. Gibbons lost a few by himself though ownership couldn't care less about jays those days

That team should've won more games than they did, solid team all around.

The rest of this road trip has me worried. Team looks tired and I can't remember the last time we played well in Anaheim. Could be out of the playoffs by the end of the trip if we falter. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, that season was as close to a consistently entertaining season as possible too. I'm pretty sure every season since has had some kind of awful stretch followed by a good one, or vice versa. This year included (April and May this year were bad). '06 started pretty well and rumbled along at a pretty decent pace - 87 wins. What killed the team were all the throwaway games sprinkled through the year because of starters gone bad (Josh Towers, Gustavo Chacin, missing Burnett for half a year, etc). I remember for a good portion of the season win streaks would cap at 3 because of this. They also wouldn't lose streakily either (Hi, Doc), but huge positive momentum gains were rare.

2006 was the season we won more games in the regular season than the Cards, who ended up winning the World Series. Oh divisional sports, you so crazy!

I really hate west coast games. that 4am start is brutal for me. screws up my entire weekend. can't go out drinking and then try to stay awake until 7:30... 14 hours until game time.... Zzzzzz

Who stays awake to the end of these west coast games in GDT? Need to know who to ship fireworks to because tonight I have to hit the bed early, my son's bday party is tomorrow morning and I need to bring my A game to take out a team of 6 yr olds at lazer tag.
