The fear of a pitcher breaking down is always present, though. What difference does it make if you trade for Sonny Gray and his arm explodes versus Shields? I also don't think you give up a Norris for Shields on an FA contract with a high ERA. He's probably a $10m asset. And he's the exact opposite of Reyes, to be honest with you.

 

He's probably a better Buehrle. Not an outrageous cost (he's not an "ace") and he's on an FA contract, but it's still good value. Just like with Bark Muehrle.

 

Fair enough. We'll just have to wait and see now what AA does and if we do in fact get Shields (I know we were speaking in hypothetical and no specific rumor) and if so how it goes.

Sonny Gray has weaker splits vs. right handers. That's why all the righties. May not need much anyway, considering how poor the A's are vs. lefties, and Vogt regressing hard (2-13 so far in the 2nd half, .192 in July.)

 

Gray's numbers against righties and lefties are almost identical this season. He shuts lefties down, no question, but the difference is hardly enough to make the defense worse for a marginal, if any, offensive upgrade (since Mushroom is still hitting, flukey BABIP and all).

 

Whatever. It's Gibbons, and up against the opposing team's ace. Just have to wish for some luck.

I don't think Lawrie is too well liked here, but I am still a big fan and I hope he does well during his career. It seems unlikely, amidst all the rumours, but I would like the Jays to try and get him back in two years when he's a FA. I loved his interview btw.

They can't offer insight or change a few things and say "this might be a better deal". You can't make gold out of s***. Your trade ideas are so ridiculous that they can't be repaired or turned into a real discussion. And you should expect that when every one of your offers start with "Dickey, Thole, Navarro". Nobody is going to give you something you need in return for two useless catchers and a 40 year old s***-baller. Nobody is going to give you talented, controllable assets for the privilege of getting back Jose Reyes. Maybe you mean well when you make your posts, but it's unfair to expect anybody to take them seriously when they are so ridiculously lopsided and nonsensical.

Maybe you should look back at what started this all ! Also sum should also look back at some of they say before they judge others ! You rage at people for telling you that your trade proposals are stupid, but those are their own opinions and their own thoughts, and they're entitled to them.
