o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Who has a monster July? May was Josh, June was Pillar...Be nice if it were to be a guy like Hutch. Edwin! book it. he's almost frustrated enough to get pissed off and start to crank the ball. just keep him at DH and he can carry the jays for a month.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Uggh... the next two days... Fri vs. Anibal Sanchez Sat vs. David Price Losing streaks are fun! What people also forget is that Detroit's bullpen is awful.. one of the worst in MLB.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Congratulations to Kevin Pillar for going above 2 WAR this year, higher than most BJMB posters thought he would reach in his entire career. Also becoming a league average hitter.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 .400 BABIP in June for Pillar. Just saying. He's going to average around .320, so he has enough time to come crashing down as a hitter. Still doing better than expected, though.

He's a legit every day player IMO, and most of us saw him as nothing better than a 4th OF.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Wow, Gose has REALLY been struggling with the bat lately. Over last 30 days batting .194/.245/.223 with full playing time.

I like Travis but have to admit Gose's start had me wondering if we just missed something on him. Um....nope. Same Gose. Comparing his 2015 fWAR to Pillar just makes me feel good.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Yes. He's a legit every day player IMO, and most of us saw him as nothing better than a 4th OF. In GDT thread July 1st asked if anyone had changed their view yet that he was more than a strong 4th OF option. A few said no. You are the 1st person to say yes. I hope you are right. Guy had admirable determination. I actually thought of Pillar yesterday when St Louis retired.

Despite all this Team is only 3 games over .500. Where would we be without Donaldson Pillar Travis Prob below Boston
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 For a team like the Jays with no outfield depth, it's safe to call Pillar a starter, we have no better options and he's defensive range really does make up for any lack of projected offense. Pompey is locked in right now in AA with an 1100 OPS. He really needs to be here to solidify the OF imo considering you can't trust Saunders even returning this season the way things have played out.
SSTP Verified Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Pillar tied for 19th in MLB outfield WAR with Reddick at 2.1 ..not even halfway through the season. Imagine he put up a 5 war season heh

Pillar will come down from that great June but if he finishes the season anywhere near 4 wins. That's excellent
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Pillar will come down from that great June but if he finishes the season anywhere near 4 wins. That's excellent Yea he'll definitely come down but he's contributed tremendously when most had minimal expectations from him (myself included). Baseball is a rare sport where a 979th draft pick can become a starter on a contending team (relative to the division) from determination, plenty of luck, and the right opportunity. You don't see that unfold too often in most other sports.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 If Pillar ends up being a 4 WIN player by the end of the year. Do you sell?
baubau Verified Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 If Pillar ends up being a 4 WIN player by the end of the year. Do you sell? Depends on what the return is. This isn't only to Pillar but any player on the roster.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Do have a question how many runs in the majors are scored in innings 1-3, 4-6,7-9 on a whole and on average? Is there also a run per inning as a whole and average? Does anybody have this info out there? Hello Stat's geeks, Cyborg , anyone!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Copeland called up. Not Norris. Really...
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Dubront to start July 7th Dammit What's wrong with Norris??
LTR Verified Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Good times in Blue Jays land. The 27 year old failed starter has suddenly figured it out! The derp-go-round never ends! To be perfectly honest we may be able to win some games with Doubront, he's a below average starter but with our offense... Is he still throwing 90 mph?
LTR Verified Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Dammit What's wrong with Norris?? No control (and no command). Though showed definite signs of improvement. I guess after only striking out only 1 in his last start the Blue Jays employed their single-game-sample-size-determination strategy on this one.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Well is it confirmed that Doubront will be starting? It's possible that Tepera could be sent down again and they bring up Norris just before his start. Doubront can act as a long-man over the next few days.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 (edited) Copeland called up. Not Norris. That's a good thing. Not point in calling up a starter before the actually need to start. Better to add a reliever expecially given that they all pitched yesterday. Edit: Never mind. Looks like the starter is Doubront and they are calling him prematurely. Edited July 3, 2015 by KingKat
