Serious question: Why does Pillar approach hitting the way he does? It doesn't make any sense to me. I mean, we all know that Thole is a crap hitter, but any contribution he does make offensively is because he's not a moron. He appears to understand his limitations, and while he is lacking in talent, he usually puts forth his best effort to get on base however he can. With Pillar, any offensive contribution he makes is because he happens to make contact with his flailing swing. I just don't get why he continues to use this approach. It defies reason.

He tries to do too much. and yeah his swing is just atrocious. It's as if he is swinging using his upper body. And I said this before - the guy fails at recognizing pitches, so he probably chooses to swing at a pitch before it's thrown.

"I'm going to guess fastball here, and if it's not fastball, oh well"

*proceeds to swing at a pitch near his eyes*

you're right, he's cork screwing... feet are buried in one spot and he starts his hands while the rest of his body is way behind. You can't hit if your legs are out of sync with your body.

question is why it's not getting better. Hitting coach has to see it and his swing is getting worse daily.... If anyone needs to spend some time in AAA Pillar is a candidate. the problem is that they don't have any outfielders. Carrera sucks balls and Bautista is hurt. there are no good options.

Bit of a setback there.. but the rest of the AL East isn't exactly inspiring confidence either. Rays and Red Sox swept, O's still to play.. and we're still only 4 back. Hopefully we can attack Minnesota's mediocre pitching.. and hopefully limit their offense, which has been very good (ask Red Sox fans right now..)

I miss Anthony Gose :(

Lol, he would be better than Pillar... not even comparing Gose from this year either (which is all BABIP driven).

This team just falters in close games all the time.

Thanks for the info Sherlock.

Anyone know the hit distribution to LF CF RF? Seems like Pillar is not getting any key plays in CF.

My friend who is a Mets fan wants Donaldson. He believes it is unethetical for Donaldson to be playing with such a team as the blue jays.

He thanks god for the stupidity of AA and Beeston, and now believes that Donaldson's destiny is to be united with Thor.

He says he will us Michael Confort and a couple of others. Didn't know who they were until I looked them up 5 minutes ago.

According to my friend Donaldson will be with Thor once Tampa Bay and/or Yanks go on a hot streak.. it is the way it should be.

Note: I'm not saying we should trade Donaldson... just my Mets friend sees that he got Thor, so now assumes the Jays management is really stupid, so he can get Donaldson too, as soon as Tampa goes on a hot streak.

I still can't believe Pompey was sent down after 22 games. I think Gibby had a lot of input on this one. Pompey must have pissed him off somehow, combined with Pillar playing well at the time, led to this stupid f***ing decision. Real baseball minds know 22 games is not a large enough sample.

Absolutely. Bosox letting Betts play through any struggles. That's was a Snider-ish clusterf***

Tampa is plunging in the standings. They just lost their 5th in a row.. Yanks lead the division.. for now at least.
