Hes never stayed healthy in his career. Not sure why people thought this year would be any different.

Very true. I did not like this trade from day 1. There were reports that the Jays had to pay part or all of the difference in salaries.

I guess all the board experts got this one wrong. An injury-prone OF at odds with his former team's management for a stable arm was supposed to be a great deal. Oh well as long as the Jays keep finding these hacks that can provide short-term production in the OF before flaming out the team will be ok.

Can he Pitch, covert him! Lol

I don't disagree but this team is not very good and when you hire someone new there is always hope...and we desperately need hope..

Unfortunately, I think the new GM will probably have a mandate to cut payroll, so EEE or Bautista could be traded for younger players. The new GM would not eb under pressure to win immediately so we could be stuck with another rebuild.

I miss J.A Happ. I never thought I would say that.

Agreed. He seemed to always throw too many pitches to get through the 5th inning but he got better in 2014

I think the Blue Jays will be stuck in mediocrity indefinitely. It all goes back to ownership and Rogers has not been able to hire the right people since taking over. They usually have good intentions, but that doesn't matter if you don't know what you're doing. Does this surprise anyone though? Rogers has always been a s***** outfit so...you are what you are. You can call for AA to be canned but it really doesn't matter.

It starts at the top. The Rays get brought up a lot around here and for good reason, but their change of fortunes started with Sternberg's arrival.

It's mind-boggling that Rogers wouldn't want to run the Jays as efficiently as possible and make a shitload of money.

The whole Duquette situation should tell you where to find the ultimate leak in this boat.

Agreed. Your other post about the Jays possibly ending up with someone worse than AA was bang on.

I've said that they'll likely end up with a guy who's good at roster management, but bad at building up the farm system.

With how much this team values Canadians, and given how bad the Brewers are doing, I could see them going after Doug Melvin.

This surgeon must be directly from god, anyone mortal with a Meniscus tear would have been out 8-12 weeks to start with before they could do a proper rehab.

If all the BS reports out there are correct I keep hearing from the media and I can't see them as correct, that they removed the total Meniscus (I assume they are talking one of the two) that would mean he is running bone on bone. More than likely it was a Meniscus tear that was removed and not a big tear judging from his quickness at him returning to the field. That brace he is using is to separate the joint to minimize friction. Good luck with that injury as a fielder ......he is done....after they get some pitching they want to start looking for who else they can put in the out field..........paying what Melky wanted don't look so bad anymore ...pup

60% of meniscus was removed. Probably not bone on bone. If it was they would have injected Synvisc there right away.

I have dealt with 5 knee surgeries and sort of know what I am talking about.

Yes it does. If we had signed Melky it likely means we don't sign Russell Martin who's playing at a MVP level. Melky has been brutal this year - hitting 72 wRC+ in 155 PA. Couple that with his s***** D and baserunning and he's been below replacement level who probably won't age well.

The trade off of Melky vs Martin, I take Martin 101% of the time. AA put too much faith in an unproven Pompey, not enough fit in Pillar and a few other injuries. What can't be overlooked is AA inability to put together a rotation and bullpen. These guys are horrible.

This team needs a new voice at the top.

Perhaps somebody could put a poll on the forum as to how many games Saunders will actually play for us this year? My guess is 70-80.

He's also been unlucky at the plate, while striking out less, walking more. As his BABIP stablizes, he will level out, I don't think he's regressing just likely off to a rough start and his avg will rise over time.

Saunders is unfortunately done. He'll no longer be the player he was pre-knee injury.

I will do that trade again, however. I ain't an armchair hoodwink.

Trade was great in context, and it still might work out. Saunders is under control for 2016 too (Happ isn't). But right now it sure would be nice to have Happ

Once Saunders isn't rushed and comes back next year having a Melky like come back, I will thoroughly enjoy bumping this thread.
