You guys are weird. When the ball finds its way to a glove and even out his babip, will you guys act surprised?

Yeah, met him too, nice guy. Then there's guys like Pompey who are douche bags.

Continue to cry because he didn't get his autograph

Agreed. Colabello should play ahead of Smoak, for now.

Smoak's D on 1st has been stabilizing for all of the IF

He is a switch hitter who has given us good ABs all season with an excellent OBP and has upside in the Rogers Center.

Mushroom is hot right now but I don't want him to take away at bats from Smoak. With a 3rd baseman who has a hard time throwing to first we need someone who can catch a ball thrown 4 feet from the target.

The player who offers the most value should play and at the moment that's Colabello

Not really, given that Colabello takes a lot of value away with his awful OF defense and subpar baserunning.

Oh yeah he stinks as an outfielder, but he's a first basemen. Put Smoak in the field and he'll likely be s*** too.

Colabello's offensive war is 8.9

Smoak offensive war 2.0

Do you mean runs above average?

Runs above replacement

Average. Replacement is then added in later as a function of PA. I believe

One of my favourite players right now. I hope that he can learn the LF position, then Smoak can get more games at 1st.

How is he your favorite player lol? He plays the worst defense I've EVER seen in the mlb, is a terrible base runner and has been on a hot streak. What happens when he stops hitting, which will happen. Will he be your favorite then?

Posted

We're talking about a guy sporting a .463 babip.

He's unreal right now, but it will cease at some point. And his defense is downright fugly. Pick any evaluation method, be it uzr, total zone, runs saved, eye test....he fails them all horribly.

He's a feel good story, but midnight will eventually strike and then it's pumpkin time.

Lay off on the worst defense you've ever seen nonsense. You've only seen him play 1 game at his natural position. The guy was moved from being a AAA first basemen to the opposite corner of the field as a major league left fielder, literally overnight as a desperation move. Will it his bat wear off? Yes it will regress. Will he be a great depth piece to have around for any DL stints of Edwin/Smoak in the future? Absolutely. Cut the guy some slack, he's playing over his head but as a replacement player he's kicking some serious ass. It doesn't you mean people can't like what they are seeing.

What are his numbers going to look like with a .300 babip?

Just so you know, you can't take the O number and the D number on Fangraphs and call that the WAR, those numbers aren't WAR related. He's definitely been better with the stick than the glove, but 8.9 is not the correct WAR number...

Ugly. Very ugly.

His mean projection is something like a .308/.434/.742 slash line (OBP/SLG/OPS). He needs to be a not-s*** OF defender to be useful.

If he wasn't so ugly, I'd think he'd have a better chance.

Are you queer ? Hey nothing wrong if you are.. just remember this is a bluejay baseball forum, and making derogatory comments on a person's looks is very childish. I'm a heterosexual and never even thought to question his looks, or anyone else on any baseball team. Men don't interest me that way. But I suppose a man's looks is important to you. I apologize if your are a female, born a female, not a transgendered once a male hormone saturated man.

Just wondered what makes people like you the way you are.

4-4 today, 2-4 yesterday. Discuss.

Yep, no doubt will probably end up a career 150 wRC (There has to be some regression)

holy s***....

There's actually nothing "holy s***" about it.

Projections now have Colabello ahead of Smoak on offense (and BsR if you want to be picky). At the very least he should be platooning with Smoak unless his defense at 1B turns out to be inadequate.

Posted
Cut him some slack. I'd take his offense over Goins' defence anyday. If it weren't for our offence, pitching would be a bigger story than it already is and Colabello is one of the reasons we are scoring and winning games.

Hmmm.. what will happen when Trout stops hitting? f*** the future and all these dumb predictions based on useless stats, I'm interested in the here and what's happening now. If Colabello stops hitting you replace him,but NOT for smoak's bat...use smoak like you should goins, when leading in the later innings, but not for his bat, he's brutal !
