BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 The pitching has been absolutely f*ckin' embarrassing. Even if the pitching was bad we'd still be over .500. I've never seen pitching this bad on this team...I think ever. I certainly have never seen anything like this. This would be terrible pitching even in the steroid era. It's such a shame because the Jays lead MLB in runs scored; they're like 20 runs ahead of #2.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Not sure if it is Martin, pete walker or the pitchers but they seem afraid to pitch inside.
baubau Verified Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Nats call and ask for Hutch and Castro (or SRF) for Gio Gonzalez...what does AA say? He says, "Strasburg or GTFO!" and Beston next door hears the conversation and fires AA for trying to get a Boras client.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 actually I didn't realize that Gio's options are at $12M per only. It's not that bad of a deal. I still think he deals Hutch before the end of the season.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Nats call and ask for Hutch and Castro (or SRF) for Gio Gonzalez...what does AA say? I would hope he says yes.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I would hope he says yes. yeah I thought Gio was a FA after 2016 when I wrote that. He's actually a FA one year before Hutch. Change it to Fister.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Our Ace Randy Wolf is in Triple-A. Holy s***, he's winning the AL CY this year... book it

Statman Verified Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 So this Pete Walker guy? Has their ever been a positional coach that had the worst bullpen in the league, been promoted and taken a starting pitching staff to the bottom of MLB?

We need a new pitching coach ASAP. This is getting ridiculous.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I'm really getting tired of this team. Starting to wondering if it's time to looking at moving Bautista, Edwin, Reyes, Buehrle, Dickey (or whoever they can), and restructure......cause I really don't see the pitching getting fixed up in the next year or so. Hutch is better than he's shown...I truly believe that. Stroman should be good when he's back. I still have faith in Norris being a successful starter. I think Hoff will be very good. Then you've got Sanchez, Osuna, Castro still with chances to be important pieces...but they're all just getting here (a couple of years in for Hutch). By the time they're comfortable and regulars in the bigs, many of our big offensive pieces will be in their mid-late 30's and likely declining considerably (if they aren't already). I don't know. This is just so deflating...not as bad as 2013...but I'm not happy. Agree, it is not working. Very frustrating, the failure to not address the pitching this offseason doomed this season before it started. They have me wishing we had Happ.......never thought I would say that. If things don't improve as the season goes on it is time to trade bautista, and a few pieces and start over.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 He has options? I thought he was FA after this season? I usually look this stuff up first. I thought it was last season for Fister and Zimmerman and next season was the end of Gio and Stras. Jays and Nats might not be a match...but I think both teams are likely to make an early trade.

And his new team is more messed up than the Jays.
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I still wish we signed Shields. Even with a healthy Stroman this team had huge question marks in their starting rotation and BP. Loved the Martin and JD aquisitions but I'm really dissapointed AA didnt address any pitching concerns. Such a waste of a truely elite offensive ball club.
Candide Verified Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 hey bros, it's me again. who is the escape goat: Pete Walker, who has never won anything in his life, or Russell Martin, the free agent catcher who has taken each of his teams to the playoffs? http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/559825079537311726/5D18BB9587FC9D9334E704860A51C90DCD843633/

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 so...... move EE for pitching? it's not like we don't have a 1B / DH to take his place

CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Even Martin won't be able to take this team to the playoffs with this pathetic rotation
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Astros are the hottest team in baseball right now. Who would have thought? Yeah.. but Seattle has serious issues. They just sent two of their bullpen arms packing on a bus to Tacoma (Medina and Olson).. next up, they need to do something about that lineup..
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Even Martin won't be able to take this team to the playoffs with this pathetic rotation And yet, before today, it's not even the worst in the AL. Chicago and Boston are also chasing for the bottom. The only AL East team with a decent rotation is Tampa.. even the Yanks are mediocre at best, and are only being boosted by a strong bullpen, as their offense is middle of the pack at best.

Yeah but we literally have the worst rotation in the majors (source: fangraphs). For me, this means we're potentially last place material in the AL east.

Potentially.. but their predicted standings as of right now still predict us as a middle-of-the road team (and they're now picking the Yankees as the top team, and still thinking Boston is a good team.. that won't last when John Farrell screws up.. next to Gibbons, Farrell is one of the worst managers in the game.) Still, this rotation can't get any worse.. things have to get better sooner or later.
