nmrch Verified Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 obviously the usual SSS caveats apply and with fielding metrics even more so UZR/150 ranks among qualifying players at their positions Devon Travis 16/24 Dalton Pompey 4/26 Kevin Pillar 5/17 The Jays as a unit are 9th in baseball and no should be surprised at number 1 and 30. the Royals and the Padres. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=lf&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=y&type=1&season=2015&month=0&season1=2015&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=24,d
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Surprised you didn't mention Reyes 9th out of 30
MatBarnes Verified Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Josh Donaldson 22/25 Lawrie 10/25 Jake Marisnick 1/77
MatBarnes Verified Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Surprised you didn't mention Reyes 9th out of 30 No. 5/30 (UZR/150)
baloojayz Verified Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 When are we gonna trade for a SP? Reyes at #5 should permanently discredit UZR IMO, I saw him break for a ball and make a half-ass dive at it once it was already past him in this Tampa series alone...
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 When are we gonna trade for a SP? Why trade when we have Randy Wolf
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 DRS and UZR have both hated Donaldson. Weird.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Don't these kinda metrics take 3 years to stabilize? I wouldn't read too much into them at this point.
nmrch Verified Member Posted April 27, 2015 Author Posted April 27, 2015 Surprised you didn't mention Reyes 9th out of 30 I only looked at guys without a ton of ML experience and where there's uncertainty about how good they are on defence. I think we can agree that it this point guys like Bautista and Reyes are what they are.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 DRS and UZR have both hated Donaldson. Weird. This says.......don't trust me http://ctrlv.cz/shots/2015/04/27/pT9W.png
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 DRS and UZR have both hated Donaldson. Weird. I still love him. lol He's been a monster at the plate. Just hope he can settle down his throws.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Boston and New York are in the bottom tier.. and Boston's defensive woes show how much Victorino's injury is going to hurt. And BTW, HanRam ranks as one of the worst defenders in the game, and should be shifted to DH ASAP(he's hitting .300 with 8 HRs so far). Numbers aren't kind on Napoli, Bogaerts or Sandoval either. As for the Yankees, their defense is BAD.. only Ellsbury, Beltran, and Young (when at the corners) produced good UZR numbers. They're awful in the infield.. Jays don't really have any bad fielders.. they're average to above-average in all positions, and Saunders is heading to LF as soon as Bautista's back.

I would have thought Headley, Didi, Drew and Tex would be well above average defensively. Headley's a stud, Didi's a glove first SS, Drew was always really good defensively at SS and Tex used to be a GG'er...
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 DRS and UZR have both hated Donaldson. Weird. He honestly hasn't looked that great. Defensively that is. The bat has been amazing.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Handsome Jake already at 1.1 WAR.

Same with Gardner. And Didi is actually worse defensively at SS than Jeter.. Brendan Ryan can't come back soon enough.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Is it actually cause of the Dome's smaller distance between the foul lines and the stands? That's kind of why I remarked on it. Will be interesting to see of the move out of Oakland effects Donaldson's defensive metrics.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Handsome Jake already at 1.1 WAR. Give it time Brett Lawrie now below replacement level
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I honestly don't understand this WAR. Russell Martin has 0.5 WAR he is hitting below Mendoza I just dont get it. ;s
