This has nothing to do with the Jays.. it's about the issue of police brutality in Baltimore and other parts of the US. This is actually a serious issue down there.

horrible thread, also its really not cool to see Toronto fans take shots at Baltimore as a city. I don't know why we have to go there, it makes us look trashy and classless.

It's all in good fun, does anyone really take what anyone says seriously?

What's the only thing that Grows in Baltimore? Crime Rates

What did the the Average University of Maryland Student get on their SAT? Drool

Why do all the trees in Pennsylvania lean south? Maryland Sucks

How is a Baltimore Girl different than a bowling ball? Sometimes a bowling ball is tough to pick up

Whats the difference between Baltimore and yogurt? Yogurt has an active living culture.

Why couldn't the baby Jesus be born in Baltimore? Because they couldn't find 3 wise men or a virgin.

How do they separate the Men from the Boys in Baltimore? Issue a restraining order

The most famous joke summing up policing in the United States:

"The LAPD, The FBI, and the CIA are all trying to prove that they are the best at apprehending criminals. The President decides to give them a test. He releases a rabbit into a forest and each of them has to catch it.

The CIA goes in. They place animal informants throughout the forest. They question all plant and mineral witnesses. After three months of extensive investigations they conclude that rabbits do not exist.

The FBI goes in. After two weeks with no leads they burn the forest, killing everything in it, including the rabbit, and they make no apologies. The rabbit had it coming.

The LAPD goes in. They come out two hours later with a badly beaten bear. The bear is yelling: "Okay! Okay! I'm a rabbit! I'm a rabbit!'"

Baltimore is a shithole... it is a little better than it used to be after they cleaned up the port area but there are still huge income disparities that make for a volatile city. I went to visit my brother there a few years ago. He was working on a movie (step-up). In the 2 months that he was there, he had 2 cars stolen, one of which was broken into 3 times. Homeless and prostitutes were everywhere, the city was very dirty (if you needed a used hypodermic needle, you just had to look at the edge of the road) and at night you cabbed wherever you went because it was simply too dangerous to walk. I have only been in two places where I have felt less safe: Managua Nicaragua after the 2001 election and Athens Greece during the May 2011 austerity protests.

Dont get me wrong, I feel bad for the citizens there and hopefully the people with enough money to afford to go to a ball game will realize that they have neglected 80% of the city for too long. Police brutality is certainly an issue, but it is the underlying social issues that create the atmosphere where it festers.

Can't see the Os game being played tonight. City is going to be on fire after night fall.

Got to agree with that. And I wouldn't be surprised if they move the series or the next one to a neutral site (such as Milwaukee).

Watching cnn right now.. sad to see :(

I feel sorry for the people who live there, for the the cops who aren't dirty and for the pliable young teens who's lives will be ruined.

sad situation... and it doesn't look like the police are getting in front of it.

They're going to end up moving the Chicago series to Milwaukee (and the next one.) Baltimore is just too dangerous right now to play in without risking the lives of the players.

FYI, the reason I said Milwaukee is because the Brewers are on the road this week.

The thing i think of is there are likely a lot more good officers than dirty and they are the ones that get s*** on in these riots. It is sad to think of it.

3/4 of the people that are part of the riots probably don't even know what happened, they are using it as an excuse to be animals

there are underlying problems and those problems are being used to agitate young people in the poorest area of Baltimore. It's sad and terrifying. could happen just about anywhere.
