If Gibbons trusted Cecil so much why the f*** would you switch again to Castro even? That was just a series of clown moves.

I can't believe how many people think Cecil sucks because things haven't gone his way though 5 innings (in which his still has a not-terrible 3.76 xFIP). Guy has been absolute nails for 110+ innings over the last two years.

I'm in here talking up Brett Cecil. How does that make me a homer? DeJesus is a platoon player. He's 40% better vs. righties in his career. You obviously bring in your elite lefty reliever to face him late in a big spot. You just have to trust him to get the next out.

 

DeJesus is not what you would call a dangerous LHH. Osuna has elite stuff, he wasn't matched against Prince Fielder.

I'd like to thank Gibby for glaringly incorrect managerial decisions tonight, the players for consistently and constantly f***ing up against Tampa Bay and most of all AA for utterly failing to address the most obvious weakness on the team (i.e. bullpen and closer role) for the entire offseason.

 

Plenty of blame to go around tonight and this is exhibit A as to why we will go 22 years without making the playoffs.

Gibbons included. It pretty f***ing embarrassing that he lost the "closer role" without even getting a chance to close.

DeJesus has a 118 wRC+ vs. RHP in his career, and just 78 vs. LHP. He is a dangerous hitter vs. righties and an abomination vs. LHP. The move to Cecil late with him up in a big spot could not be more obvious.

 

The whining that would have happened here if DeJesus shot one into the gap against Osuna while Cecil stayed in the pen would have crashed the forum.

I'll give you Loup (disappointing) but Hendricks is striking guys out and walking barely anyone. Bad luck happens. Replace Castro and Loup with another righty and Hynes
