ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I'm saying something like Hoffman for Hamels could be the difference maker and its not like its a horrible thing in 2016 either when we lose Dickey, Buehrle. Hoffman is not a guarantee, no prospect is. I'm pretty sure it'll take more than Hoffman and I don't think the Jays have the payroll room for Hamels's salary. Can't just ignore those 2 factors.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I doubt he was in their price range. Plus, I thought we were discussing starters. My bad...don't think there was very many starters that were even considering us this offseason.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Liam Hendriks actually pitching well.. I think we know that Redmond is probably gone after this outing..
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 How can we make it so Sanchez is no longer on this team? Paypal me $50 and I'll get it done
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 My bad...don't think there was very many starters that were even considering us this offseason. Especially guys trying to rebuild their value. The opposite is true for hitters, i.e. Smoak, Barton and Dirks.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Not sure what you mean? I'm sure AA was trying to get something else done in the off season, but the price was too much for the pieces he wanted and he had to go with the kids. I doubt he went into the off season saying... HMMM it's a good idea to have a bunch kids on the team because we dont need any solid vets.
Governator Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 How can we make it so Sanchez is no longer on this team? Moving a top piece for Hamel's to move Sanchez to the pen would be a win move IMO. Worst case you have Stroman back next year with Hamel's, Hutch and Norris as a starting point. You bullpen has Sanchez, Castro, Osuna, Cecil as a base if they aren't moved in the deal. Upgrade 2 areas with 1 stone.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Buck and Tabby are right too many young unproven kids on jays pitching staff Last I checked we have 2 losses because the veterans suck at this point....Sanchez wasn't good but only gave up 3 runs...should have been in the game.
Gorlak Verified Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I doubt starting the year with a bunch of rookies was AA's plan A I think it was.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 jays heart not in it now.... ugly game all around. the positive is that it will be over soon.

Oh I agree, but I thought you said the opposite on your post, probably a typo. There's no doubt in my mind the payroll parameters changed after the bad 2013 season. Only way to make changes was to lower payroll which is what AA did this past off season. Anyway....first stinker, let's not overreact.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Valencia in RF? Strange.. but it's a blowout, so it really doesn't matter. Let's just get ready for tomorrow.
Statman Verified Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 jays heart not in it now.... ugly game all around. the positive is that it will be over soon. There are going to be game like this. If we continue to see the Jays play 4 out of 5 games like they have so far we will be in fine shape this year.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I thought Sanchez was supposed to be good. he looked like Josh Towers tonight.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 61cyngi just bought himself a full contact f*** off. anyone else want one while I handing them out? some people just beg for it.

If we continue to see the Jays play 4 out of 5 games like they have so far we will be in fine shape this year. sure, but it's not just the pitching. lots of ugly swings, some dropped balls and all around bad play. one game... get em tomorrow.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I think AA felt comfortable enough with the rookies to not pay for upgrades. yeah.. he's a bad GM for sure.
Governator Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I think AA's plan was one of Estrada, Sanchez or Norris as the 5th starter, move Navarro for pen help. Stroman going down really hurt, and teams not wanting Navarro's salary meant AA was in a tough spot with no money. He was pretty much forced to give young arms a long look but I don't think it was plan A. Still should have kept Delabar and stretched out Osuna though IMO.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I think AA felt comfortable enough with the rookies to not pay for upgrades. Again, depends who you're talking about and at what price range. The Jays even had to overpay for a Canadian position player, imagine a FA pitcher.
