baseballsss Verified Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 eIs Russel Martin going to bounce back soon? f***er is 1 for 23 right now....how is that possible? I know everyone says he is concentrating on the catching side of things but he is missing balls, throwing wide on steal attempts and waving at s*** pitches. I pray that he is just pushing too hard and will settle down soon and get his game back but thus far I am shocked he has been this bad. I am really hoping he turns things around soon and gets a string of good games together cuz right now he is painful to watch.... I hope he sits next game to clear his head and regroup....let Navarro catch Burle and have Smoak at first. Me thinks you need to calm the f*** down

Governator Community Moderator Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Wilner moment. We are 5th in the majors in runs scored.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 We're going to score a lot of runs this year. Martin only having 1 hit so far doesn't concern me much. Give them all a couple weeks to get it going. Fun fact, as of right now Martin as the same amount of hits and steals.
wiredin Verified Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Martin has had a flash of brilliance a couple of times, and I'm hoping those flashes become a nice tire fire sometime in the near future. We are only two weeks in, i'm not worried about Martin or Donaldson yet or the cold bats.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Would you move up Travis or Pillar to 2nd? If so, when?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Would you move up Travis or Pillar to 2nd? If so, when? I think they probably wait until Saunders is back and then plug him in the 2 hole.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I think moving around guys too early was the mistake Gibby made. These guys are going to be fine, every one has a bad couple of games. Move Martin back to the two hole, and leave everyone be for a bit.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Yeah, I think that putting Martin in the 7th spot has mind f***ed him. He won't get good pitches to hit like in the 2nd spot. In the 2nd spot, he was hitting in between Reyes, Joey and EE. Now he's hitting between Navarro and Smoak lol, of course he will only get s***** pitches to hit. Bad move by Gibby IMO to move him to the 7th spot so soon.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 3 of the last 4 games 2 runs or fewer
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Convenient you mentioned Martin's throwing error but none of the baserunners hes thrown out. I can recall at least 3 in the previous week and a half. Martin will be fine. His bat will come around. At least hes still drawing walks. He has caught bad breaks too - getting called strike 3 on a clear ball 4 and another on a pitch he got hit by in the same game.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 3 of the last 4 games 2 runs or fewer Well that is a pretty ridiculous cherry-picked "stat"
5minutesforframing Verified Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Well that is a pretty ridiculous cherry-picked "stat" That's not really cherry-picked brother, it's really just the lack of run production during the past 4 games (well 3 of the last 4). It's pretty meaningless and it sure to end sooner rather than later, but it's not cherry-picked. Just kinda dumb.

He conveniently leaves out the fact that there was a game in between where we scored 10 runs. And if you stretch the sample to 5 games, then there is another 12-run game for us. I could easily say "the bluejays have scored 10 runs or more in 2 of the last 5 games played"
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Also, the team has averaged 5.1 runs per game since the beginning of the season, and that is with only 3 homeruns from Bautista/Edwin/Donaldson
