The right-hander is 4-3 with a 3.00 ERA in 10 starts versus the Yankees, including 3-0 with a 1.04 ERA in the last four. The Blue Jays, though, are 0-3 when he starts at Yankee Stadium. Encarnacion is hitting .344 with four homers against the Yankees since the start of last year Did you know that the Jays had an explosive day with the bats even though its batters finished with double the amount of strikeouts to hits (12 Ks vs 6 hits)? I know I didn't! Yankees: Michael Pineda takes the mound against the team he's faced the most in his career. He is 1-2 with a 4.22 ERA against Toronto in his career, which includes an 0-2 record with a 2.25 ERA in 2014. Last year he held opponents to a .186 batting average and posted a 1.59 ERA in six home starts. The Yankees are seeking to avoid starting 0-2 for the fourth straight year Toronto hasn't won a season series in the Big Apple since 2003, and since that time has posted a 33-70 record. There was a stretch from Sept. 19, 2012-July 25, 2014 when the Blue Jays lost 17 consecutive games in New York. Governator Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 It never gets old seeing that line up.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I would have interchanged Pompey and Smoak in the order
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Why would you guys prefer Smoak over Pompey? Sure Smoak has a longer track record but I think Pompey has shown more of an offensive game than Smoak has since the start of ST. Neither is an ideal 5 hitter, but I don't want Smoak behind Donaldson.
S33n Verified Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Why not. Having power in that 8 spot is a nice weapon. Especially in this ballpark I could see Smoak having some nice games at Yankee Stadium. Hes never hit consistently enough to hit any higher although I would be ok with him hitting ahead of Pillar. With that being said his defense is where we will get a lot of value from him. What Angrioter said, but we will see how things go. I'm just happy it's not Navarro DHing again.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Both have patience but right now Smoak has more power I wouldn't be concerned about power in this line up. I have more of a preference of keeping the line going, especially since everyone ahead of the 5th spot is likely to be on base.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 For Smoak: FO 2B at Safeco = 2nd deck dinger at Yankee Stadium
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Go Blue Jays!!!!!!!!!

Power no matter what is important, doesn't matter if you got 8 other guys who hit for 30 homers a year
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Last time the Jays won a series at Yankee Stadium: 2003. Today is the day
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Do you want to see 8-Pompey, 9-Travis and 1-Reyes running the bases like gazelas? good point, forgot about that. Ideally I see him as a #2 hitter when it's all said and done.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 While waiting..... Is this a better team with Navarro or with Lind? Navarro - hits from both sides / does not need platoon partner, backup C sending Thole to minors, runs faster than Lind, better at his defensive position than Lind is at his, durable, cheaper Lind - very good against righties, abysmal against lefties, needs platoon partner, gets hurt often, terrible defensively at a non-premium position, mouthy
wroteforluck Verified Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Last time the Jays won a series at Yankee Stadium: 2003. Today is the day They won one in July 2014 and August 2010
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Last time the Jays won a series at Yankee Stadium: 2003. Today is the day didn't the Jays win a series in NY in July last year? Edit: posted a few seconds late haha

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 These aren't really true. Navarro had 3 SB in 2014 and 13 for his career. Lind had 0 SB in 2014 and 6 for his career. Navarro provides far more defensive value at C than Lind does at 1B and its not even close. Also, do not equate fat with lack of speed. Kirby Puckett?

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 They won one in July 2014 and August 2010 At yankee Stadium? I don't think so
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Stolen bases =/= speed OK, maybe should have said Navarro better baserunner Not convinced Lind is faster than Navarro though. Eye test says no
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Colby Rasmus = 5.2 SB/150 Dioner Navarro = 2.3 SB/150 Colby = marginally faster than Donair? really not a good measure e: Eye test? Have you seen them run side by side?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Navarro had 3 SB in 2014 and 13 for his career. Lind had 0 SB in 2014 and 6 for his career. Navarro's BsR value in his career is -31.0 in 855 games, -3.6 last year, Lind's is -13.4 in 955 games, 0.0 last year in 96 games. Also, I get that Navarro's "ability" to play C is more favourable than Lind's to play 1B, but the former is not a very good catcher at all. Lind is also a way better hitter than Navarro, and it's not particularly close.
