TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 6 rookies have come north with the team...most of them drawn polarizing responses from the board. I think we need some documentation. Predict their fWAR for the season and PA's for hitters, IPs for pitchers. Feel free to include any other stats/numbers you wish. Pitchers Norris 182 IP - 2.5 fWAR Sanchez 61 IP - 0.2 fWAR (okay start...bad run in May) Castro 44 IP - 0.2 fWAR Osuna 12 IP - -0.2 fWAR Batters Travis 470 PA - 1.1 fWAR Pompey 155 PA - 0 fWAR (70 wRC...positive defense) Total - 3.8. My gut feel is to go higher on Norris but tempering my expectations.
tercet Verified Member Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Sanchez will have more IP because the Jays will stick with him until Santana is ready... and he will be an average reliever rest of the year.. I'd say he somewhere around -0.5 WAR No way travis is gonna get 470PA, and Pompey will be 1.5~ war over 450PA.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 Osuna lost weight bro, no need to continue the hate. I'm coming around. Jays have been known to make knee jerk transactions when it comes to relievers. I think his leash is short than all of them...two bad outings in a row and the "Clearly Rushed" one will be in the minors.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Pitchers Norris 195 IP - 3.2 fWAR Sanchez 105 IP - 1.2 fWAR (moves to pen and is good there) Castro 80 IP - 2.0 fWAR (elite setup all year) Osuna 100 IP - 2.0 fWAR (gets some starts in the second half and holds his own) Batters Travis 600 PA - 2.5 fWAR Pompey 600 PA - 1.5 fWAR (defense + patience. Low average) Blue Jays win the World Series and everyone on this list gets ROY votes but Norris wins it after winning 20 games. Also Jeff Hoffman pitches in the playoffs and is WS MVP.

BTS Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Sanchez? Forgot him. Below replacement over like 70 IP.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Forgot him. Below replacement over like 70 IP. Maybe but I believe he ends up in the bullpen and produces a 0.7 war out of the pen. Estrada providing a 1.0 war the rest of the way

Estrada providing a 1.0 war the rest of the way I think Estrada is going to surprise people. I could see him approaching 2 wins as starter or finding his way into a high-leverage role as a reliever.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Alex, are you there? I think Travis will have a great season hitting and if Norris can limit the walks...anything is possible Not extemely realistic, but fun projection
frizzer1 Verified Member Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 I know fWAR is more important, but predicting more traditional stats is more fun for me: Norris: 160 IP, 3.40 ERA, 145K, 1.22 WHIP Sanchez: 150 IP, 4.28 ERA, 110K, 1.38 WHIP Osuna: 60 IP, 2.85 ERA 75K, 1.10 WHIP Castro: 60 IP, 3.15 ERA 80K, 1.10 WHIP Pompey: 500 AB .255/.300/.385 9 HR, 25 SB Travis: 400 AB .280/.320/.400 8 HR 10 SB flame away Mostly agree. Disagree about Sanchez and Osuna...Sanchez lack of command will elevate his ERA and Osuna will end up back in the minors to develop, where he belongs..
