Is it worth it to have a veteran pitcher in a rotation for young kids to look up to, like the way everyone leans on Buehrle for advice? Next year the idea that Hutch @ 25 is the veteran of the rotation, seems so young from what we're use to. Don't get me wrong I highly enjoy the thought of what the future holds just curious if there is anything to that?

No. Because just cause you have an old guy doesn't mean he's going to teach the kids. Look at Dickey, or Halladay. I do not recall seeing any article on how Dickey helps the young guys on this club. Romero also made comments many years ago how Halladay always kept to himself.

 

Same with Vizquel and DeRosa.

 

You'd have to find a veteran who can not only produce, but has the experience and willingness to teach.
