Goins is the best option to backup Reyes on days-off & when Reyes DH's...don't mind Goins making the team in a utility role and perhaps even battle for the everyday job at 2nd assuming his hitting is ok.

While 90% of the board cringes.. If AA goes with Travis and Goins, Travis should get more starts for sure,against LHP obviously and about half the games versus RHP. If Izturis is ready to start the year, then Travis to AAA to get every day playing time while Goins will make the 25 man. I'd expect Izturis to be traded before the All Star break and Travis to be called up.

problem is, assuming Itzuris can play, what to do with him? can't see AA wasting $3M but which is what he perhaps should be doing.
