jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I just checked and he has a negative WAR. How is that possible? It's because he was below replacement level? It Happens. See JP Arencibia, Izzy, and many more examples.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 so gross Blame the s***** Dunedin outfield or Saunders. Whichever makes you feel better.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 minor league deal, sure sign him up.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 This is how we know the Jays aren't true followers of advanced stats.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 This is how we know the Jays aren't true followers of advanced stats. We don't know if the Blue Jays are actually considering Viciedo though. We just know that someone told Ken Rosenthal that they were among teams that have talked to him. The Athletics are the others. That too lol
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 The Jays won't admit it, but they have zero cash. They're not talking to anyone unless there is a chance of signing them to a minor league contract. The plunge of the Canadian dollar really hurt the Jays. They'll dump Navarro in a heartbeat, just to unload his contract, and I doubt they'll reinvest that $5 million.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 AA's power hitter fetish still exists. It took a backseat to his off-season of WAR-love, but he still has the itch.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 If it's a minor league deal I think it's worth a shot. I have a feeling that we'll be shuffling the OF a lot until Saunders is back 100%
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I'd rather put Smoak in LF if we're this desperate..
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Navarro to LF and Viciedo DH?
bendera3 Verified Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 No no no no no no no. I'll cry.

The Jays are trying (unwillingly likely...) to practice financial responsibility, but if push comes to shove Rogers has no shortage of money. If I'm Eddy Rogers I want to see some on field results before I allow Alex/Paul to start papering the FA pool. The Jays, like all major league teams deal in American currency also... The drop in CDN currency isn't likely gonna hurt til later in the year. This team was once a 2-time World Series Champion when the CDN dollar was at about $0.75 US so it is not a viable excuse anyhow.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I just checked and he has a negative WAR. How is that possible? He's so bad bro.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 He's so bad bro. Worse then what we are going to put out there now?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Worse then what we are going to put out there now? Worse.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Worse then what we are going to put out there now? Overall, probably worse than Pillar, yeah... And almost certainly worse than a Pillar/Dirks platoon...
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 Navarro in LF could be quite entertaining.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 But he's Cuban...all Cubans are good at béisbol
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 But he's Cuban...all Cubans are good at béisbol I've been to Cuba. Does that make me good at baseball?
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Overall, probably worse than Pillar, yeah... And almost certainly worse than a Pillar/Dirks platoon... I know hr's and Rbi's aren't everything but there's no way pillar can put up a 20-60 season.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 I know hr's and Rbi's aren't everything but there's no way pillar can put up a 20-60 season. There... Kinda not anything? Pillar will out WAR Viciedo, which is about as good an "overall value to the team" stat as there is, even if you don't think it's perfect... Arencibia can put up a 20/60 season, but he's still gawdawful, right?

Nafro Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 It sounds like Saunders has the same time table D-Rose. No Viciedo, Saunders could be back by end of April.
