Doesn't make a lot of sense to me... if he confessed and it happened during the offseason, the penalization of 80 games seems stupid... plus it's not even a PED.

Are the length of the suspensions collectively bargained? I don't think there's any leeway here even if the player confessed.

And if there is one thing you want to give somebody who relapsed, It's lots of free time.

The following people are dumn:

Gen.Disarray, HERPDERP, NJH, The Cats Ass, Zaun of the Dead

Josh would snort coke off a stripper's ass, drink himself to spanky levels, shoot up heroin, sure. But he would NEVER take the lord's name in vain.

Kind of sad that using a drug of abuse carries a much heavier fine than actually cheating (PED's).

That's why I think it's domestic like wife beating or something.

Well I guess there is that whole bit about not wanting to give little kids an impression that cocaine is cool but yeah its not like PEDs are exactly safe.

He probably ended up with a few beers, went to the cocaine, had sex with a stripper and then yelled out "oh god" when he finished.

That's where he knew he needed to draw the line, and not by using his platinum card.

Josh Hamilton | ANA

(February 25, 2015 8:02 PM EST)

A source tells Jon Heyman of CBS Sports that Josh Hamilton relapsed a few months back involving "at least cocaine."

Heyman says Hamilton turned himself in and that, if true, he would be put in a drug program as a first-time offender. Without a positive test, it's unclear how MLB could suspend Hamilton for the incident. Reports were that the 33-year-old had a meeting with MLB Wednesday to discuss what happened. More should be known shortly.

I just hope for his sake he continues to win his battle against his addiction. Its a very good sign, he owned up to it and is dealing with it. That makes it much more likely to keep it an isolated incident.

I wonder why he's suspended. It's not uncommon for players to have cocaine in the offseason. It sounds like he just needs to go into rehab which is really sad to see. You guys can make fun of him but it is hard for a guy to deal with addiction issues. You never really get healed.

Poor guy, it must be very hard to deal with something like this, beyond your control. I know people with drug problems, it's a legit mental health issue. It can take control of you. I wish guys like him nothing but the best, however it will be a struggle for the rest of his life. You can tell he's a decent guy too.

Sex and coke don't mix.

He'll be suspended because using drugs of abuse is against the Joint Drug Agreement. Baseball understandably doesn't want their players doing drugs and there is language in place for treatment and penalties.

Everyone is so sympathetic to drug abuse issues but no one ever wants to put the blame on the person for starting to do them in the first place.

First of all, that's not true. Most people with drug issues know they screwed up, years before. The fact of the matter is, people make mistakes. Assigning blame for starting in the first place really doesn't help someone immersed in it and who may have developed mental health issues.

Because what's done is done, what are you gonna do next? Shame the guy in emergency having a heart attack for eating too many big macs? No, what's done is done, you f***ing rehabilitate the person and educate them ways to stay healthy from now on.

It's been proven time and time again that blaming the person will do nothing more than worsen the outcomes.

I just choose to make people accountable for their decisions.

Why should a paramedic come to you if you were in a car accident for speeding, it was your fault?

By your logic does this mean no one should ever drink alcohol because some people become alcoholics or are alcoholics supposed to know they'll be alcoholics before their first drink?
