G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Its time to bring Votto home. I know people keep bring that up but will never happen
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I know people keep bring that up but will never happen Just doesn't make sense for our roster and with that amount of cash. Fun to think about tho
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Just a disgusting amount of K's at the back of that BP. 3 guys with a K/9 north of 14 last year.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I'm pretty pissed that the Yankees got Chapman for Eric Jagielo and spare parts with no upside. What a foolish move by the Reds.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Its weird what a terrible market there has been for Chapman. The nixed package from the Dodgers was underwhelming as well.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I'm pretty pissed that the Yankees got Chapman for Eric Jagielo and spare parts with no upside. What a foolish move by the Reds. Rookie Davis and Caleb Cotham aren't "spare parts with no upside". Renda, maybe.
Nafro Verified Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 If he get's suspended for more than 45 days, the Yankees get an extra year of service time! This could be a very big bonus actually for them.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Who are the 4 spects? Eric Jagielo, Rookie Davis, Caleb Cotham, Tony Renda
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I'm pretty pissed that the Yankees got Chapman for Eric Jagielo and spare parts with no upside. What a foolish move by the Reds. Not really--his value has plunged with a potentially lengthy suspension looming over that domestic violence charge. Jagielo will depend on if he sticks at 3B, Davis has some upside, Cotham was in the majors last year, and Renda is a wild card.. potential long-term replacement for Phillips when he ever gets moved.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I have a feeling this will go bad for the Yankees somehow. Maybe too many guys expected to be in key situations With Kimbrel coming in Jays won't be coming back on very many games in the AL East. We really need to get an impact back end reliever ourselves
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Bryan HochVerified account@BryanHoch Yankees have acquired Aroldis Chapman from the Reds for RHPs Caleb Cotham and Rookie Davis and INFs Eric Jagielo and Tony Renda. Got it.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Chapman, Betances, and Miller to close out a game. Damn. Better not be trailing after 6 against the Yankees next season.

Unless Betances and Miller regress due to Girardi's overuse of them last season (especially Betances, who has been significantly overused the past 2 seasons.)
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Yankees and Redsox have improved albiet not significantly. We really need to add more sure pieces
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Rookie Davis and Caleb Cotham aren't "spare parts with no upside". Renda, maybe. Cotham is a 28 year old reliever with average stuff, the type of guy you can get on waivers sometimes. Maybe he has a decent season or two, but there's not much value. Renda couldn't hit as a 24 year old in AA and doesn't possess standout power, speed, or defense. I was perhaps a bit too harsh on Davis, but he can't command his breaking pitches and profiles as a reliever. There certainly isn't any considerable upside there in my opinion. He's got velocity, but not the 95+ that most elite relievers have. I've always liked Jagielo and hoped to get him in the 2nd round in 2013, but he's just not enough for Chapman.

Yeah, and Andy Burns is our long term replacement for Tulowitzki.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Yankees pillaged the Reds. Ugh...
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Gross. The Reds are dumn. I enjoy that Greg Bird is now in the elite camp, though.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Cuban pitcher Yasiel Sierra is apparently a free agent now. Anyone have an info on him? What he might go for?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Yankees pillaged the Reds. Ugh... Not sure now was the best time to sell on Chapman considering he is likely looking at a suspension to start the season.....
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 It's really not that good of a deal. Yanks are giving up all those prospects to rent Chapman for one year, and possibly losing him for part of that time due to a suspension.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Not sure now was the best time to sell on Chapman considering he is likely looking at a suspension to start the season..... They surely could have landed a real blue chip top 50 guy (or more) for him at the deadline if history is any guide. Even if the prospects work out, Jagielo is much like Trevor Plouffe and they'll get some good seasons of middle relief from the other two. They would be smarter to take a shot at a real impact player.

If he gets suspended, they probably get him for 2 years, as mentioned earlier.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 The Reds are putting on the ultimate clinic for how to sell low. Not sure now was the best time to sell on Chapman considering he is likely looking at a suspension to start the season..... Yup.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 No. The Reds have a very nice, young rotation and some good hitters controlled long-term. They just need to keep reloading by acquiring close-to-majors prospects. The Diamondbacks roster shares many of the same qualities, but a stupid front office that gives up value for little in return is an ominous sign for the future.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Forget Brett Lawrie's box jumps, Danny Valencia just insta'ed a vid of him lifting 300+ lbs above his head with one arm. Dafuqqq. Seriously Jew strength.
