Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 What's the joke? Jon Jay is the joke
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 What's the joke? A) Jon Jay going to the Padres. The idea that anyone will want to trade for Jon Jay. C) The idea that Jon Jay only now became available for trade. D) The fact that Jon Jay is your only CF.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 So Lowe only got 11 million according to Ken R. Seems low?
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Rumor has it that the Astros are in on Fernandez. Can you imagine a 1-2 of Keuchel/Fernandez, that would be sick.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 So Lowe only got 11 million according to Ken R. Seems low? It's somewhat fair considering he only had a good half of 2015
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Tony Blengino's take on the Iwakuma signing: "Hisashi Iwakuma, who has exceeded 180 innings pitched exactly once in his four seasons in the U.S., and who also endured nagging shoulder injuries during his time in Japan, guaranteed $15 million per year through his age-37 season?" Fangraphs needs to stop letting this guy write.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 It's somewhat fair considering he only had a good half of 2015 I wouldn't say that. He was elite in the first half and still pretty good in the 2nd half. Pitching for the Jays his strikeouts weren't as high but he still got a ton of swing and miss so there might of been some luck in there.

Word out of Japan is that at one point people weren't even sure if Iwakuma's career was over.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 2/10 for Motte and 2/6 for Qualls. Wow... sweet.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Updated number is 2/12 for Qualls. A bit more than I expected him to get. You got me.

People in Tampa don't care about baseball (or hockey), period. Time to cut bait and move to Brooklyn.

Well and the Bucs who get big numbers is still near the bottom in the NFL..... not a great sports town

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 ftfy Give up on that dream. Montreal cares about baseball as much as Tampa.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 You were probably born after 1994. Nope, not even close. That city abandoned their team.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Nope, not even close. That city abandoned their team. I dunno about that. The casuals abandoned it, yes, but not the die-hards. The casuals were fed up of watching an AAA team getting crushed by the rest of the NL East every year. Can't really blame them-- most fans that show up to ballgames (in non baseball towns) are casuals, and we've noticed that only winning and other free stuff brings casuals back to the park. I think a new stadium downtown with a competitive payroll would work-- it would be better than in Tampa, I can assure you that.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I dunno about that. The casuals abandoned it, yes, but not the die-hards. So 7 people didn't abandon ship?
Nafro Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Is it me or does Jayson Aquino seem to be the guy who always gets DFA'd and than claimed?
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Is it me or does Jayson Aquino seem to be the guy who always gets DFA'd and than claimed? Yes, he's had a weird last year or so. 5 different orgs! May 2010 - Signed by Rockies. February 2015 - Traded from Rockies to Blue Jays (for Tyler Ybarra). May 2015 - DFA'd by Jays and claimed by the Pirates. July 2015 - DFA'd by Pirates and claimed by the Indians. December 2015 - DFA'd by the Indians and claimed by the Cardinals

People in Tampa don't care about baseball (or hockey), period. Time to cut bait and move to Brooklyn. The lightning have a really good fan base? Top 10 in attendance the last 3 years. Miami is the much worse pro sports city. Marlins have a brand new stadium and barely got 20 000 fans last year. Panthers get no fans either. Heat are really the only team that gets good support and that probably has more to do with the Lebron effect than anything. Now that he is gone theres lots of empty seats even though games are technically "sold out"
