baubau Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Wow ump, FFS. Kershaw still hitting 95 at 130 pitches, wow. I thought he had Duffy struck out but clearly the Ump just wanted to see Kershaw pitch more. Couldn't blame him. Now onto the dumpster fire that is the Padres.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Kershaw with 35 Whiffs on the night. Incredible. Yup. Kershaw is the Cy in my eyes.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Yup. Kershaw is the Cy in my eyes. Agreed, Greinke and MadBum aren't even close IMO.
baubau Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Agreed, Greinke and MadBum aren't even close IMO. They shouldn't even be ranked ahead of Arrieta for the discussion let alone CK.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Agreed, Greinke and MadBum aren't even close IMO. I agree. The guy is in a tier all his own.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Kershaw with 50.55 points on DK tonight. Thanks for the 70 bucks Clayton
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 More Rangers fans in SD than at their home games. lol
baubau Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 More Rangers fans in SD than at their home games. lol They are shouting "Na-po-li" when he came up to bat, so yeah. I can't really blame SD fans. After what AJP did this offseason, hard to show up.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Comon guys Greinke will easily win the Cy Young with his current ERA. He is putting Maddux type numbers this year. Kershaw has been too inconsistent imo

MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Unlucky or not, it's ridiculous to say that Greinke doesn't deserve it.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Unlucky or not, it's ridiculous to say that Greinke doesn't deserve it. No it isn't, it's more of an issue of Greinke being really lucky rather than Kershaw being unlucky. Greinke has benefited from a .235 BABIP, he has a 1.59 ERA compared to a 2.62 FIP and 3.21 (!!!) xFIP resulting from a lucky 6.0% HR/FB. He also has the highest LOB% of his career at 85.9%. Kershaw gets far more strikeouts, a similar walk rate, more groundballs, and much, much better fielding independent metrics. Kershaw has been better and it isn't even close.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Kershaw has been to inconsistent with a 2.18 ERA. Okay
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 ******** you ain't lucky with a freaking 1.59 ERA. And if I recall well, Kershaw had an ERA in the 3s 12 starts in the season. For a Cy Young candidate that's pretty bad start. He has been incredible the last two months but Greinke was great during the whole season

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 ERA is in general a very lucky stat I don't think we should judge teams by wins. Wins and losses are very lucky stats. Instead use run differential
Followthelight Verified Member Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 ERA is in general a very lucky stat So all good pitchers are lucky and bad pitchers are all unlucky? LOL that is a gross over simplification. It's not a coincidence all good pitchers have good ERA's and bad pitchers have worse ERA's.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Watching the Braves is like trying to pass a kidney stone. Good lord.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 These Braves are so bad, it's still possible they help the Nats make the playoffs (if the Mets stumble and lose their matchups vs. the Nats).

Let's just hope they don't give the Jays any trouble later this month, or we'll never hear the end of it.

What's the over/under on how many runs the Braves pitching staff gives up vs. the Jays that series? I'm betting 30 at least.. and that might be a low number, the way their pitching staff is..

The way the Mets are playing, the chances of Nats making a comeback.... 0.000000000000001%
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Greetings from NY - but don't worry I'm not a Yankees fan. Oh good. That means we can put our torches and pitchforks away. lol jk jk Welcome aboard.
Trekkie Verified Member Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I feel like we gave up squat to get Price (which is how it should be for a rental IMO)... Boyd is fodder, Norris is looking like a back of the rotation guy at best, and Labourt who?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Our old friend Matt Boyd: 1.0+ IP, 7H, 6ER, 2BB, 1 HR, 0 K, ERA now up to 8.36. That David Price is looking much better for the Jays than the Tigers.. though it's still possible Daniel Norris may pan out down the road. Boyd looks less so.. he has long-relief/mop-up man in his future if he doesn't improve his command and cut down the HRs.
