BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Yeah AA doesn't have a history of giving guys like Estrada the QO True. This off season may be a bit diff with Marco as: 1. He has pitched better than expected establishing himself as solid to mid to back end guy 2. We just sold off our farm so AA needs to replenish it...if he walks its another pick 3. Losing potentially Mark B and RA - lots of innings we need to backfill and we have struggled to sign FAs

There won't be any Norris and Boyd's waiting around next year unless some of the current relievers go back to starting. AA doesn't have to commit to Estrada per say but he'll definitely have to bring in some bodies. Hopefully it will be a friendlier FA market than in year's past and AA will have more options to choose from. One option might be to sign and flip like they did with Happ (which didn't work out so great in that case but is still worth considering).

Sanchez and/or Osuna as effective MLB SPs is no lock and even Stro has only 20 starts. Maybe Shapiro will sign J Zimmerman or like...he might sign for 5 or under if that's still in place. Oh well...f*** it....lets W the division this year and worry about 2016 later

Either would balance the top of the rotation and reduce the team's reliance on Stroman though like you say, it's really nice that next year isn't our primary focus yet.

Samardzija isn't going to get that record-breaking contract he wanted when he was with the Cubs, but it will be surprising to see what offers he will get. I'm more comfortable with Zimmerman.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Schoop just tied the game in Baltimore. 6-6 now as Boxberger serves up a HR..

Get their confidence high when they come face us and destroy it. Plus the Rays loosing to the O's BTS will have a tear or two!

Dammit, thought they had another one vs the Rays tomorrow. Fine this can go 60 innings. That should have this game finished up by tomorrow afternoon/evening-ish.

baubau Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Alright, Davis hit the home run but did anyone else see that guy that "appeared" out of 3 seats? Looked like a homeless guy just woke up like, "Huh, what? Whats going on." Only in Baltimore.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 If the Rangers pull out a win over San Diego tonight they'll be only 2 games behind the Astros for the West lead. Not sure why the Rangers aren't getting more press. They've been underachieving since the beginning and now they're turning it on (with the help of a Hamels+ acquisition, of course).
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Now that Posey singled, I really want Kershaw to finish this right here. Masterful performance.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 The LAD fans roar as Mattingly walks off the field, leaving Kershaw in after back to back singles from Duffy and Posey.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Wow ump, FFS. Kershaw still hitting 95 at 130 pitches, wow.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Am I the only one who clapped? Great f***ing job Kershaw, best pitcher in baseball.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Wow, great outing from Kershaw tonight. Showing why he's the best in the world. 132 pitches, 15k's, 35 swings and misses. Vin Scully routinely updated his viewers on Kershaw's swing and miss count. Pat and Buck would've been talking about Derek Jeter.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Kershaw with 35 Whiffs on the night. Incredible.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Nothing against Greinke, but his ERA needs to regress if the best pitcher is truly going to win the Cy Young in the NL. Kershaw deserves it.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Am I the only one who clapped? Great f***ing job Kershaw, best pitcher in baseball. Great game to watch tonight thanks to him. I wanted that complete game for him so badly!
