jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Count the Rays out as buyers.. Matt Silverman won't buy. And his comments still make me feel a fire sale is coming in Tampa: http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/rays/silverman-confident-rays-will-rebound-doesnt-see-need-to-add/2236659#comments
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Mathematically sure, but in reality they were out the 3rd week in August or earlier, IIRC. Yeah, about right. Last year was so up and down. A downer of an April, huge bounce back May, mediocre June (with injuries starting to mount), strong July, awful August, solid September (but not solid enough).
LTR Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Here's hoping Tanaka continues his struggles
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Just saw TB gave up two inside the park homeruns in one game last night, what are the odds. The mascara is running fast on the Rays. Theyve now dropped 14 of 17.
LTR Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Yankees have a nice line-up, particularily with Ellsbury back. Their line-up is optimized for their ballpark, pretty smart.
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Yeah I think the biggest surprise has been how productive Texiera and ARod have been for them. Both guys have OPS right around .900.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 While we complain about the Jays performance.. Houston has gone on a slump itself, losing 4 of 5, and losing right now. A loss tonight and an Angels win and the Astros will only be 0.5 games up on the Angels. Could regression be coming to the Astros, especially with innings becoming an issue with McCullers and Velasquez, and a lack of decent rotation depth after Keuchel and McHugh? And of course, there's the offense. They need Springer back ASAP.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 what happens if every team in the A.L. finishes 81-81?
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 The Jays finish last. yeah, but do they make the playoffs? (maybe that's where our run differential comes into play haha)
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 The Jays finish last. Would they, or are you being facetious? I think it's head to head records > run differential.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Facetious. But as a Jays fan, I expect that somehow they end up last. lol
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Facetious. But as a Jays fan, I expect that somehow they end up last. Aren't we forgetting about Tampa's implosion? More likely they finish last than the Jays.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) Dodgers add Preston Guilmet off waivers from the Rays to fill more of their minors roster due to almost frequent injuries and likely upcoming trades for pitching which will drain their depth outside of Urias and Seager. Shows that Tampa doesn't care for Guilmet either. 3rd ballclub this year.. and it's likely only temporary, as they have to make a roster move for Zach Lee, who is projected to start this weekend. BTW, Matt West has been horrible in AAA, the exact reason why he hasn't been anymore than an emergency arm with the Dodgers: 1-1, 7.50 ERA, 12/4 K/BB ratio, 1.44 WHIP. If fans thought he'd be great for the Jays earlier in the year.. these AAA numbers are proof why he isn't getting a chance, and will likely be DFAd or used as a throw-in piece when the Dodgers make additions at the deadline or purchase contracts, as they are expected to do (even though they're 5.5 up, don't count out the Giants and D-Backs.) ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 So far, the Jays have gotten it right with Bo instead of Guilmet, for example...I'm sure Bo is the only one who knows though.

Got to agree.. Bo actually had potential, Guilmet has basically bounced around the league.. and he's probably going to be heading elsewhere soon, especially with Beachy coming off the 60-day tomorrow.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Former Jays junk pitcher Aaron Laffey is back in the big leagues with the Rockies. Pretty much shows how little depth the Rockies have in decent pitching..

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 So the Tigers blew a 5 run lead in the 9th...and lost the game.
Swervin81 Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 So the Tigers blew a 5 run lead in the 9th...and lost the game. That's just plain hilarious. Especially since I have a coworker that's an obnoxious Tigers fan. Let's just wait in a few years when you guys have a bunch of unmovable albatross contracts (Verlander, Cabrera) and no future to speak of. That team is gonna go full Phillies sooner than later.
admin Site Manager Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 Synd drops his ERA to 3.11 with 11k in 8IP. That trade is going to hurt for years to come, and that's without TDA. Embarrassing.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 that entire off season was harsh. gave away too many assets and took on way too much payroll. the combination doubles the problem going forward.

It was a bad trade but more often than not these top prospects bust. At the time of the trade it was reasonably justified. Maybe not for both TDA and Syndergaard, but AA was trading for a CY Young Winner after aquiring some significant assets. JJ flopping was catrastrophic and I'm pretty sure no one expected that. AA made his move and failed miserably, but our farm is once again stocked, and our team is in position to make a move. He is a better GM than most.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Anibal Sanchez with his best Torii Hunter impression:
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Man, just can't stop looking at Noah's line from last night. It is so depressing. We're stuck with Sanchez. The real bust of the Lancing 3 Sanchez is to Nicolino as Syndergaard is to Sanchez.
