This must be historic for the Royals... Guthrie produced possibly one of the worst outings in MLB history:

1.0+ IP, 9H, 11ER, 3BB, 1K, 4HR given up.

Yanks are going to break their losing streak.. but it doesn't mean anything for the rest of the East right now, as we're all chasing Tampa and need them to lose to gain ground.

Guthrie line

3 outs, 4 HR's

He sucks so, it's not surprising. Hopefully we do the same to Noesi tonight.

I guess this means Ned Yost goes down in history as only the 2nd manager in history to let his starting pitcher give up 11ER in 1 inning or fewer.

Watch Melky Cabrera turn his season around with a huge series vs Jays.

Are there any posters who still think they should've re-signed him?

Nope. A -0.2 WAR shows the Jays did the right thing to let him go. A .239/.287/.270 split doesn't help either. And his May has been terrible.. what a waste of money for the White Sox, which will cost Ventura his job soon..

James Loney to the 15-day DL, with Tim Beckham and Jake Elmore back up. How much longer can Tampa sustain its success with so many injuries before the rest of the AL East, including the Jays, catch up? And you thought the Jays had it bad with injuries..

Jason Jennings was terrible towards the end of his career, Guthrie better hope that's not the case for him

And that terrible start was when he was with the Astros, back when the Astros were stupidly trying to repeat the 2005 success instead of a full rebuild, which they eventually finally did in 2011-2012.. look where they are now, as the best team in the AL!

His .252 BABIP is far below is .308 career average though, it suggests his average will rise back up as variance plays its role and his numbers will likely level out. There were other cheaper OF options for the Jays at the time that they still passed on and the Happ for Saunders deal at this point f***ing sucks. Bottomline though Martin $ was much better spent than Melky $ under the circumstances.

Is this real????

They were talking about it on the broadcast when Bartolo was on 3rd, thats probably what inspired the tweet.

So much for the Red Sox pitching turning the corner.. the Twins are giving them a rude awakening as expected. Joe Kelly's day is done.. not as bad as Guthrie, but not far off:

1.2 IP, 8H, 7ER, 1BB, 0K, 1HR.

Knew this would happen.. the Twins are a far superior team than the Angels.

Man this division is such a s*** show.

just gotta get to .500 by the all star break ... and by then, if the team is relatively healthy (which includes both Bautista & Saunders in the outfield) ... and with a quality pitcher hopefully added ... finish strong and take the division with less than 90 wins.

This is a division leader? Looks more like the Durham Bulls lineup.. god, is the AL East a sh*t storm.. even the Jays are a good week from possibly being at the top of the division.. let's start tonight!

The Rays are 7th and 10th in hitting and pitching WAR, respectively. They deserve to be where they're at. Just because the team isn't star loaded doesn't mean they aren't a good team. Just look at the Padres and the White Sox.

Kiermaier is there. He´s good at beisbol.

True, but unless Archer and Odorizzi get some help soon, the Rays are going to sink in the standings fast. And they just lost Loney for 2-3 weeks due to an injury. And BTW, DeJesus, despite his strong numbers, is a platoon player.

Also, the Rays are facing Elias, Happ and King Felix. Tough series.. the Rays could be back to .500 by the end of this series if they don't hit.

Isn't Matt Moore due to be back in a few weeks?

Their line-up looks a lot better with Souza, DeJesus, and Cabrera in there... it's not half bad.

Matt Moore was a below average pitcher before he got hurt anyway. He is no saviour.

The Rays are fine though.

He certainly has some potential, but I wasn't implying that he's their saviour lol.
