Laika Community Moderator Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Title Here's how this works - make your hypothetical offers for phenom Stephen Strasburg, we will vote on the most best and realistic via thanks. The offer with the most thanks, I will discuss with AA at our next conversation (we have the same male masseuse).
Governator Community Moderator Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Our all-star calibre, young, controllable middle infielder they need. Oh wait.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Betts + Owens + Craig Your dumn Jays offers ya goof
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 Stroman, Pompey, Norris Too much. No thanks for you.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Norris, Smith Jr, Smoral and Pompey? Good combo of MLB ready players and prospects of positional need later on. Stroman, Sanchez and Pentecost are still retained? I have no idea what the Nats are specifically looking for in a player.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 They'd probably have some interest in Pompey with Span hitting free agency after the year. Hutchison + Pompey + Osuna.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Not sure the Jays work as a trade partner. Strasburg is amazing and he should command an incredible price, but that price isn't worth it for the Blue Jays. If they have to give up players like Stroman or Pompey, the overall upgrade of bringing in Strasburg will be negligible. So my offer: no offer. Either sign Shields if his price is low enough, or go into the season with what you have, hope they can hold their s*** together (I believe they can; there's enough depth to sustain at least one major injury and one guy who undeperforms) and get your pitcher either at the trade deadline, or next year in free agency, when a tidal wave of premium pitching talent will be hitting the market all at once.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Sanchez Norris Pentecost Travis aka throwing assets at the wall hoping something sticks. I feel like the would demand Stroman tho
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Sanchez Norris Pentecost Travis aka throwing assets at the wall hoping something sticks. I feel like the would demand Stroman tho This kinda hurts the Jays both in the present and in the future; losing Travis and two more starters will murder their present day depth, leaving you with no safety net if one of the SP's goes down, and resorting you to playing Izturis, Goins and Kawasaki full time, and probably wasting a roster spot on Tolleson to make sure you don't lose him. Norris, Pentecost and Travis' future value also probably outweighs Strasburg's, especially at the salary he'll start commanding in arb.

With the amount the Nats are likely asking for, you're gonna lose a ton of present and future depth. So I understand why people wouldn't make an offer for Strasburg.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 My offer is in the lead. for realizies tho I like BTS' most
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 Hi Please allow AA and I to have the discussion about whether or not any trade offer for Strasburg actually makes sense. That's over your puny heads. What your job is is to come up with a good crowd sourced hypothetical trade offer. That's your task. Stay on task.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 That's more realistic in the current baseball climate. Teams like getting major league contributors back but also value service time. Hutch can step right in and they get two close-to-MLB guys with upside. The days of teams trading their farm (Norris + Sanchez + Pompey + Pentecost...) for one or two expensive years of a star are gone. I think the Jays could put together a package that's advantageous for both sides. BTS' offer is the closest to what I would make if I were to make one, but even then, how big of an upgrade is Strasburg over Hutch? 3 wins, optimistically? Last year the difference was 1.7 wins. Who do you play in place of Pompey? What if Bautista or Saunders go down? I'm not sure an outfield that regularly plays Pillar and Dirks at the same time is something you want to run with.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Your dumn Jays offers ya goof I thought we were going to discuss realistic offers.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Stroman, Pompey, Norris Even Stroman alone for Strasburg doesn't make sense considering years of control.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I'd do 2 of Norris, Pompey, Sanchez + lower level prospects.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Steamer thinks they are only 0.5 WAR apart this season, with Stras being 3 years older and 4 less years of control left. tfw your player is probably more valuable than one of the most hyped pitching prospects of all time

And no team trading for Stras has any chance whatsoever of resigning him before FA. Assuming he stays healthy, he should get a record contract.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 tfw your player is probably more valuable than one of the most hyped pitching prospects of all time Probably the most. Things that were written about Strasburg: The best draft prospect ever. The best pitching prospect ever. The most hyped debut ever.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 And no team trading for Stras has any chance whatsoever of resigning him before FA. Assuming he stays healthy, he should get a record contract. Why should he? There were 12 pitchers that were better than him last year. Over the last three years (2012-2014) he ranks as the 14th best pitcher in the game. Strasburg is an ace, but he isn't some inhuman world-beater. You could make two full rotations of pitchers better than him before you pick up Strasburg.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Strassburg will not be worth the price it costs to acquire him for us. Plus his arm is on borrowed time.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 that's all I would give up to be honest.
