What I do find funny is that you're not a fan of the blue jays and yet you have 5,217 posts on a blue jays message board.

And I find it odd that you have 2,307 posts and haven't had one intelligent one. So much for the blind squirrel theory.

#Nats prepared to trade starter if they sign Scherzer. Zimmermann most likely candidate but one source says Nats would listen on Strasburg.

Sanchez, Norris, Hoffman, Pentecost for Stras

our entire future for 2 years of Strasburg and he'll likely spend one of those on the DL...where do I sign up?

That is the worst post you've ever made

Continuing to say it doesn't make it true. The Jays were in first place by 6.5 games and attendance levels were below their 4th place teams. Then reference all the other examples I gave that debunks that myth that winning automatically means increase in attendance.

Rogers isn't a he to spend that money. It's a they...and "they" owners will always have to answer to shareholders first. At what point are Jays fans going to get used to the fact that this team is going to have a budget to work around?

This board must love it that I have been sick for two weeks now and have time to wet blanket everything. I mean who doesn't love a wet blanket?

No doubt Toronto is a hype city in regards to fans (for basketball & baseball anyways) but winning with some consistency and returning to the playoffs will cure most of what ails this franchise as we've seen with the Raptors. I mean 20+ yrs for a playoff drought and continually coming up short will jade most fan bases in any sport so they'd have to excuse and understand the high level of skepticism and lack of fans racing out to open their wallets. Don't get me wrong I agree with most of what you've been saying but we would never be the Rays in terms of attendance/fan support with continual seasons of winning and competitive baseball. This city loves & supports winners and I'm not talking about a brief first place flirtation in the standings while holding your breath that the bottom doesn't fall out. At some point this ownership and their shareholders will have to realize that turning a significant profit will require exiting the uncertain middle ground that's plagued this team for the last two decades and putting a winner on the field, which in turn will take more money than they are currently spending. I realize business wise it's a precarious position for them to be in but it's what's needed if they expect to break out of this current cycle they're continuously stuck in.

No thanks, Norris is pretty much ready for #5 pitching time, and has atleast #2-#3 potential. Strasburg after TJS is a BIG ?

I heard Elliotte Friedman talking on PTS the other day saying when he with CBC the CBC was going to cash in huge for ad revenue in the 2nd round of the NHL playoffs if the Leafs beat the Bruins. That tells me that the ad slots are not sold well in advance and that if the Jays were to make the postseason the revenue would go up a ton.

When you mentioned this I remembered that one of my old friends is the producer for HNIC. So I asked them...unfortunately I didn't get a response that answered it.

"I am afraid I do not have the answer to this. I would say that yes, units would be sold by round. Playoffs are tricky as it could be a 4 or 7 game series. I even believe gm 7 would make more money than say game 3. I do know that Leafs and Canucks are the fan favourites so they draw bigger money. Often playoff spots are decided 4 games before the puck drops on the post season. How it all works I have no idea. We have what we call "wilds" which are spots that can be dropped if we run heavy (Damn Ron and Don! Kidding) in the playoffs and finals those become fewer and fewer."

so maybe during a playoff series that involves higher ratings they can oversell it and cut out some of the bits they do. That makes sense to me.

I actually remember Friedman saying that. He said in GM 7 for the Leafs and Bruins game they would cut down the air time of the panel because it could make a ton more money being sold as advertising.
