Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I think the more pressing issue is what the hell am i going to do with his Jersey????
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 This was called by almost everyone on the board. He'd go out there, rebuild his value, try to make a larger contract elsewhere. Interesting to see if he starts or relieves, swings, or how long his DL stint will be.

He could have a good year or be another Josh Johnson for them, but at least he's relatively cheap

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 And not our problem anymore. That's the best part. Glad he's gone. I don't mind rolling the dice with him as a No. 5 starter with additional depth behind him, though it was frustrating how the Jays were relying on Morrow to a top arm in their rotation.

If our rotation was stronger at the top I'd be more inclined to gamble on Morrow for the 5th spot, but at this point AA can't gamble in that regard, since we are essentially counting on two young arms to lead the way with a couple of vet innings eaters. We have some good in house options, so I'm glad he is going that route instead.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 The funny thing is Morrow's numbers in SD could look terrible with how bad their defense is going to be.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 The funny thing is Morrow's numbers in SD could look terrible with how bad their defense is going to be. Depends if he goes back to the "High strikeouts, high flyball rate" guy then he'll successful.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Extending Romero and Morrow before he had to turned out to be a disaster for AA.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Depends if he goes back to the "High strikeouts, high flyball rate" guy then he'll successful. Their outfield defense is going to be trash though. Even if PetCo steals some HR, Kemp is going to give up doubles. Edit: Also Norris behind the plate is going to lose him some strikes.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Josh Johnson signed in Diego today, power arms, high risk high reward I see.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Extending Romero and Morrow before he had to turned out to be a disaster for AA. Won't be half way through 2015 before pepple here want to extend Sanchez
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Update: Padres Outfield defense will be a disaster.
Hipfan Verified Member Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Extending Romero and Morrow before he had to turned out to be a disaster for AA. Well that's the gamble of these extensions. When the deals were signed they were reasonable deals; Romero's deal was looking good for the first couple of years and then he just totally fell apart. There is no accounting for that. Morrow has his injury issues but when he signed it it looked like he was turning the corner into the potential ace everyone thought he could be. He was outstanding until the oblique injury sidelined him, and the rest is history. I don't hold those extensions against AA; he has made his mistakes for sure but those two deals just didn't work out. That's life in baseball, especially with pitchers.
wamco Verified Member Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Anderson is only 26?! o_o Maybe he'll end up being a durable player and can get one more big contract (assuming he puts up a good year I doubt he'll get more than 3 years) apparently you don't age while you are on the DL. Seems like about 10 years ago he screwed my fantasy team, for the 3rd time
