Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 As per Rotoworld, KC is shopping Holland and Davis, Jays interested in Holland.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Just scares me on what we would lose in return. There are other more reasonable options out there imo.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 That would require Pompey or Pillar+ going back I would assume, considering they are looking for OF help. We aren't really a good match for them in terms of trading partners though
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 The acquisition cost will probably not be worth it. Pass.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Clippard is probably a better option and the Nats probably have much more realistic expectations on a return for an expiring expensive reliever than the Royals do.

Are they even shopping him? The Nats are going to be one of the best teams in baseball in 2015.

baseballsss Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Are they even shopping him? The Nats are going to be one of the best teams in baseball in 2015. Yah i think there was a report the other day their shopping him
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Are they even shopping him? The Nats are going to be one of the best teams in baseball in 2015. Here's the link: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/12/rosenthal-on-clippard-royals-romo-gregerson.html For whatever it's worth.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Are they even shopping him? The Nats are going to be one of the best teams in baseball in 2015. They are also shopping Fister, when you have your #5 starter and a reliever combined to make $20 million you can understand why. Knowing the Nats, they move both of them and sign Scherzer in Fisters place. Hell, if money wasn't an issue we could acquire both of them and then flip Fister to the Royals for Holland so we could have Holland, Clippard and Cecil on the back of the pen.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Ah ok, I didn't realize. I'd rather AA just went for some cheaper options for RP to be honest. If there is money to be spent putit towards 2B or SP.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Want Holland but won't like the price
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Probably takes Sanchez. Right, in which case why would you
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 AA might be simply inquiring, and someone latched on. Holland is a boss, no harm in checking in. In previous off seasons, though, news like this would scare me. Really hope AA has turned a new leaf.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Right, in which case why would you After AA managed to avoid including Sanchez or Norris in the Donaldson trade, I can't imagine him including them for 2 years of a closer who isn't going to be cheap in arbitration.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Why can't we just sign a few guys.. Go get Mike Adams, Tom Gorzelanny, and 1 of Gregerson or Grilli to close.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Right, in which case why would you Sanchez proved he could be a very good RP last season. Obviously I would like to see him stretched out as a SP, but if we are going to move him for an established closer that will command significant payroll then it makes much more sense to just put him in the pen instead at a fraction of the cost.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Why can't we just sign a few guys.. Go get Mike Adams, Tom Gorzelanny, and 1 of Gregerson or Grilli to close. Gregerson would be nice.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 A back 4 of Gregerson, Cecil, Adams, and Loup is a pretty nice way to start a BP. You can fill out the rest with however is pitching well. K-Rod would be interesting as well.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Gregerson would be nice. He also doesn't have the fancy Savez numberz, so he might come a touch cheaper then other closers.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 He also doesn't have the fancy Savez numberz, so he might come a touch cheaper then other closers. Agreed.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 He also doesn't have the fancy Savez numberz, so he might come a touch cheaper then other closers. With how much Miller just signed for, I don't think this is a thing anymore.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 With how much Miller just signed for, I don't think this is a thing anymore. Oh it is... Miller's getting what, 9 Mil a year over 4? If he was closing the last couple years I think that'd be closer to $13 if not a bit more. His numbers were insane last year, in the ALE at that.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I'd still like us to pick up Axford. Should be relatively cheap, and I believe we'd still control him the following year.

Please no. I'm not a fan of pitchers that walk batters at a 6bb/9ip rate. We already have an Axford clone in Delabar.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 The good thing is that AA should be able to piece together a decent pen. Still a lot of time and he still has trade chips like Navarro as well.

Still a lot of time and he still has trade chips like Navarro as well. The thing that scares me is that he has had a tendency to really overpay for relievers in the past. I hope he's evolved past that point. For all the great he's done this offseason, he has yet to deal for a reliever, so we've yet to see if he's smartened up in that regard.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Holland would be great but he would cost too much i think.
