Do you have any iota of proof that the Jays tampered? I'm not saying they did, but it's extremely hard to prove and he said, she said hearsay won't cut it.

And you are 100% wrong about giving up Hoffman for letting the tampering charges go away. Tampering charges will bring about a fine in the 500,000 - 1,000,000 or a loss in IFA spending. The Jays have 3,000,000 already invested in Hoffman. Do the math.

upcoming draft picks too.

Oriole education right there....keep playing in imagination land

Rogers called White Sox executive vice-president Williams — without permission — and then called White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf, who is Beeston’s best friend.

And Rogers also called Orioles owner Peter Angelos about Duquette.

2 teams the price is gonna be high.

So phoning a teams owner (Angelos) about an employee is tampering. News to me.

This is simply not a valid comparison. Seriously man, the only even slightly valid comparison using players would be a guy who is stuck in the minors asking his team to let him sign with a Japanese/Korean team. That happens, but for limited compensation.

DD would be getting a promotion, and it's just not cricket to stand in the way of someone getting a promotion.

That comparison did fail a little, but yours did not make a lot of sense either. Japanese/Korean team? The BJays and Orioles are in the same division man.

Let's try this

Brett Cecil was offered a spot in the RedSox rotation and they expected to give us either nothing or MAYBE some noname as compensation.

Once again, we are hung up on this thing called PROOF. do you have any or are you making s*** up?

Your local papers are doing a fine job on that. Just read one.

Quick question here?

Tampering charges it's clear the Jays violated the rules here. What would be the punishment Huge fine cost you a couple first round picks? I say 2 cause you missed with White Sox and Orioles.

I think giving up Hoffman and ending the tampering charges would be the best for Jays.

lol wut a troll

After reading that article, I hope Baltimore files tampering charges, and MLB slaps Rogers with a large fine, which will either teach Ed Rogers a lesson, or get Guy Lawrence to remove him from having anything to do with the Jays.

Why would he go the Yankees for help, and not MLB? I think Rob Manfred would be able to give much better direction, and instruction on how to go about this whole process, than Randy Levine.

I bet Levine suggested Duquette just so a mess like this would happen. Can Peter Angelos do anything without putting up a fight and making everything look bad?

My newspapers, I don't live in Toronto, putz. You realize that for this to stick DD would pretty much have to say the Jays called him. I have a sneaky suspicion that's not going to happen.

According to the Elliott article, Reindorf has decided not to file tampering charges against the Blue Jays because of his friendship with Beeston.

However, he makes it clear that Rogers did not follow proper protocol - i.e. request permission in writing. It's not hard to believe that this bozo tampered in his attempt to get DD as well.

Having said this, the Jays should just pay tampering fines and move on. On the other hand, maybe MLB would step in and mediate a settlement.

It's really a gong show from a Blue Jays perspective.

you also realize if these phantom charges stick about your made up result in the loss of a draft pick is right they would forfeit that pick so no one would get it. That would be much better then giving a top prospect to a divisional rival. Capiche?

When you think about it, it doesn't seem as far-fetched that Rogers told Beeston to fire AA, Beeston refused and so Rogers decided to get rid of Beeston instead.

If true, then Beeston may have in fact left his best move for last given the off season AA has had.

s***, am I really taking Beeston's side here, lol.

I think it bad to do with Beeston siding with Reinsdorf for being against Manfred in beckmg commish

Well, I read about that motive as well, but if that was it, then they had several months to consider a replacement. Plus, Beeston's contract was said to be expiring at the end of this past season so they knew they had a chance to make the chance then.

It just seems to have been a sudden decision, without any thought behind it. Then you add the rumoured twist that Rogers went to the Yanks to ask for advice and it just makes you puke.

Even if there is no tampering charge Ed Rogers should be removed from anything to do with the Jays. Its clear he has no idea how the industry works and this entire thing is a huge mess because of him.

I wonder if AA wants to return to this cluster f***

I find it hard he would want to "walk away" from all that he has built over the last 5 years. This can be their best shot at making the postseason and even though Ed Rogers is a moron this is the baseball team AA built.

Dan has a non compete clause in his contract.

You do know must of those non compete clauses don't amount to much more then the paper they are written on. Plus it is a promotion not a lateral move ! How much will any move he makes while running this team look now. Holding him hostage should do wonders for the O's team! Disgruntled employee how could this turn out bad! Plus now with all the light being shed on this if they remove him they would have to pay him for the duration to do nothing!

Oh I agree, little Eddie doesn't seem to be the sharpest knife in the drawer , that's for sure. This is all on his shoulders.

At this point man the f*** up, pay any fines and move on because trading Hoffman to acquire DD to save face isn't worth it.

A spot in the Red Sox rotation is not a promotion, as he's already in the MLB, that's why the comparison of an AAA player to Japan is the one that makes the most sense (but still, not a lot of sense. There's just not a player analog for this situation...)
