As for a # bluejays closer next season, don't count out Casey Janssen. Just talked to him via text and he says he's not closing any doors.

Yeah, 4/44. Nice AAS, but four years was the breaker. AA would have signed him for 3/36 guaranteed. Markakis grew up in Atlanta, so that was a huge factor.

4 years is too much, he's so volatile. 2.5 war from him last year and 0 the year before that

Donaldson > Lawrie = 2.5ish wins

Martin > Navarro = 4ish wins

Travis > nothing = 1.5ish wins

Saunders > nothing = 1.5ish wins

Seem reasonable? Trying to be conservative

Isn't Saunders replacing Melky though?

Now that the team is greatly improved, of course he wants back in.

I completely agree. Four years of Markakis is too much.

Well this answers one area of depth, I've talked about. The other, someone above replacement level that can play multiple positions, might not happen but it's probably not the biggest deal if they don't. Pitching depth still shouldn't be a huge issue, so Jays fans should be happy...any time you can probably get more value, trading from a strength it's good. hate that AA is doing smart things...I still await the stupidity

But again, it's highly unlikely that the directives are coming from the ownership. They don't tell the GM who to go get, they just approve the expenditures when it comes down to money.

He's talking about Beeston in his ear big guy, I amongst many others, believe in tha validity of that scenario. Gibbers, Ken, etc, because of the 180, know one will know, well, atleast for a long time, it holds water.

Pompey+Norris++ for Hamles+Papelbon

Melky 3/41M

Navarro for R-Ross

I cannot believe how good this offseason has been so far. When the season ended I was thinking it was time to sell and trade Bautista, but instead AA has just decided to become a good GM again. Great trade.

Would you guys be open to bringing back Mayberry now as a part time platoon player with Saunders? With Saunders flexibility being able to play RF and with the DH spot planned as a "day off" spot, would it not make sense to have 2 OF, 2 INF and a backup catcher on the bench in which case Mayberry (power) and Pillar (speed and defense) would make sense for those 2 spots?
