Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Ready to read insanity? This from some guy that comment section from ESPN's headline on the deal: "As a bluejays fan, I'm getting dizzy with all these stupid moves. Trade Lind for junk. Trade Lawrie w 4 prospects for a 3rd baseman who's 4 years older than Lawrie, & now trade one of best pitchers?? I don't get how this is a winning formula, looks like it's back to cellar for Toronto." lol
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 My god what a offseason, AA is back. Now I'm wondering if what the f*** he was thinking pass two offseason My reasoning is that he was being told what to do by Beeston/Rogers, and I'm sticking to it.
Dirty SlobberKnocker Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Saving money on non tendering players, resigning Smoak to cheaper deal, Happ for Saunders saves some more. Really looking good for a big move coming up for the Jays. They could still move Navarro as well. We must have about 20 million available just from looking at what we spent last year. Not to mention Beaston claiming we would be in the 145-150million range, although I never trust what that guy says.

Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Jay Happ 6.7 million Anyone know how much Saunders is going to make?
baubau Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 So, what is the projected line up now? Reyes Martin Bautista Encarnacion Donaldson Saunders Pomepy Smoak Goins/Isturiz/Davis?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I think we know know why Estrada wasn't non-tendered yesterday. Have to keep some depth for that 5th starter. Love that this trade frees up some money as well.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 - Sign Shields - Trade Navarro for BP help - win the AL east - win the ALCS - win the World Series

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 This offseason is full of moves that make so much f***ing sense, that you would think there's no chance they'd happen. The only move of that type I remember in recent memory is the Melky signing, where I was begging for it to happen, and had absolutely no confidence that it would. Now all this move is going to be make me do is cling more desperately to the hope that they pick up Crain for the bullpen.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 So, what is the projected line up now? Reyes Martin Bautista Encarnacion Donaldson Saunders Pomepy Smoak Goins/Isturiz/Davis? I can fap to this
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Jay Happ 6.7 million Anyone know how much Saunders is going to make? Projected for 2.9M.
Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 when does the season start:D
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 My god what a offseason, AA is back. Now I'm wondering if what the f*** he was thinking pass two offseason I guess it's possible for GMs to improve with experience just like players.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 So, what is the projected line up now? Reyes Martin Bautista Encarnacion Donaldson Saunders Pomepy Smoak Goins/Isturiz/Davis? Id put Saunders in front of Donaldson vs RHP.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Projected for 2.9M. Cheap.......... Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 speechless AA f***ing reads this board
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Perfect trade. Kudos to AA for making another very logical trade.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Id put Saunders in front of Donaldson vs RHP. and pompey 9th
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 AA is absolutely killing it this offseason.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Braves spend 44M+ on Markakis for four years, Jays pick up a better player for a 4M payroll savings. Now bring back Dirks on the cheap, and you no longer have to fear the inevitable Saunders injury, since Dirks/Pillar should be a very respectable fallback while he's out.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 My god what a offseason, AA is back. Now I'm wondering if what the f*** he was thinking pass two offseason Busy getting laid and getting married woke him up in a hurry, he's back.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 My reasoning is that he was being told what to do by Beeston/Rogers, and I'm sticking to it. Why would you assume Beeston or anyone at rogers has anyone to do with what individual players to sign? Like some muckity muck at rogers is like... " ALex, go get Saunders.." Unless your general point was more that he needs to get legit pieces and quit f***ing around with waivers in trying to find diamonds in the rough whe trying to compete. But again, I doubt that's anything that would come as a directive from the top, more likely it's guys like Tinnish and his people finally getting through to him about guys who are undervalued and highly attainable.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I can't believe the Jays got the better player in the deal and saved 3.6 million dollars. In total 9.1 million saved in two days
Funky Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 AA is serving up rookies to all opposing GMs this offseason. Love the move. Salary is a wash yet it saves 10 mill on Melky.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 AA is absolutely killing it this offseason. Update your offseason thread please. I need to just stare at the awesome every time I login.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I wonder if we can get a good deal on a SP now since AA has said pitchers have reached out to the Jays since Martin signed. Maybe Liriano? I think a signing of a guy like him or McCarthy would top off this offseason.
Westfan Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Now go get a starter and a couple of bull pen arms. Unless they see something I don't in Estrada we need a starter. Course that offense may score so many runs it won't matter if Estrada gives Up a home run every start. What an offseason so far.

My assumption is that they played a hand in the 2012 moves (and the subsequent "parameters" that were placed after the fact) not the ones happening now. Beeston raving about his "track team" with his big pedo smile after picking up Reyes, Boni, JJ and Buehrle just screamed "marketing move".
