KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 What were we giving up in the Kinsler trade? Santos mainly.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 http://cdn.meme.am/instances/500x/56572003.jpg Thanks God, Kinsler is old. We got Kinsler's replacement; a Kinsler teammate (Travis)
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Santos mainly. Wow...that would have been a beauty for the Jays.

baseballsss Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 It's common to put richer teams on no-trade (Yanks, Sox, Jays) just to potentially get more incentive from them to waive no trade. Rays are probably there because Trop, money etc. lol at putting the jays with the yanks and redsox. were clearly in the rays category(minus the money).

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 So since Bruce rejects Toronto guess that's the end of the Bruce thread
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 So since Bruce rejects Toronto guess that's the end of the Bruce thread There's always the possibility he waives his no trade clause. Still not sure what to think. He would look great between Jose and EE on paper.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I'm pretty sure 99% of players who have a no trade clause has Toronto on it's list. haha. f*** em all.

Sad but true. I would like to see Bruce in Toronto but I'm thinking the price tag via trade would be higher then I'd be willing to pay
GNick49 Verified Member Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Wonder if this could actually be about Joey Votto? Anthopoulos would know early on Bruce don't want to come here, last thing he wants is somebody who doesn't want to play here. Votto has a terrible contract, and has both physical and mental issues, but could be on the market due to Reds wanting to cut costs. Votto like Martin are one of few big names who will come here where he is from Canada.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 As much as I'd love to see Votto in a Jays jersey I really don't think that contract is worth the risk.

It's crazy that in his age 40 season he's getting paid $25 million. Cincy is a mid market team, you have to wonder if they ask him to waive his no trade clause the next time he has a good season.

But still huge for 40 year old. Not many top hitters will come to Toronto...tough call

woods of ypres Verified Member Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Bruce is a good buy low guy, but the price is going to be steep. Supposedly they asked the White Sox for Quintana.

Laika Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 The Reds are looking for multiple “inexpensive Major League-ready players” in exchange for Jay Bruce, a rival scout familiar with the team’s demands told Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun. hmmm.
