Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Mets lost the 15th pick overall 2015 draft Crappy move!!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Really nice job by the Rockies. Makes me think we should have payed Colby down the stretch and qualified him. Next move: CarGo to the Rangers for tons of good prospect and sign Stubbs Stubbs, Blackmon, Dickerson
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Rockies 1, Internet 0. I actually kinda liked them extending the QO initially. Dave Cameron, Dan Szymborski and others ripped into them to no end lol
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 lol the Mets r really dumb why
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Cuddyer and Grandy?.........................Poor Lagares.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Harvey, DeGrom, Wheeler, Niese, Colon, Gee, Syndergaard, Matz, Montero is a practical embarrassment of rotational riches. If they are planning on more than one QO signing, then they really aren't "giving up a first for Cuddyer". Go ahead and put your big boy pants on, New York, sign Hanley and Andrew Miller or whoever, and try to win something.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 They still intend to play Lagares in CF, from what I recall. His point is that Cuddyer and Granderson are statues... get with the program, sparky.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Oh, I get it my DR hombre! Cuddyer and Grady are awful defenders. JonHeymanCBS Cuddyer gor $21M for 2 years from #mets What?
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Maybe the Mets are about to acquire Tulo and one of the stipulations of the trade was that they had to sign Cuddyer too, earning the Rockies a pick.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Hah, that's illegal. Not happening. Yes, nothing against the rules ever happens in baseball...
SAAviour Verified Member Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I'm surprised he took that deal over QO, but maybe they told him he can stick around for a complete re build and at his age give up any chance at the playoffs or sign elsewhere. rockies knew with Tulo and cargo being shopped he wouldn't take QO.

Ya I don't get it from Cuddyer's perspective either. He only guarantees himself 6 million more? A good year in Coors again you think would have got him more than 6 mil in 2016. Not to mention what he he could have got out of investing the 15 mil this year. Must have either wanted out of Colorado or wanted to play for Mets. Not about the Benjamins I guess.

Yeah it's not all about maximizing dollars. At Cuddyer's age, guaranteed years are just as valuable. Also, the Rockies suck and Cuddyer is from the East coast.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Mets actually have a chance to be decent this year. C - d'Arnaud 1B - Duda 2B - Murphy 3B - Wright SS - Flores (is his defense for real?) CF - Lagares RF - Cuddyer LF - Granderson Harvey deGrom Colon Wheeler Niese Syndergaard/Montero/Gee If they move something like Syndergaard + Flores + Nimmo + Smith for Tulo, they could challenge for the division.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Essentially $15M/year with the pick loss. your pick values does not include time value of money considerations
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Cuddyer is a very similar player to Melky, Older yes, but production wise Melky is only slightly better IMO. Cuddyer has put up some big season in American League. If this is the market for him, Melky will not get a 5 year deal. More like 4/48 and maybe not even that due to the steroid stigmata
Funky Verified Member Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 If they wanna make a splash we have Reyes, Dickey and Thole that I would be willing to personally deliver to the Mets. Of course I am in the minority and would love to bank the money saved for next year, let the pups gain another years experience, and trade some of the entitled vets for youth with athleticism and energy. This team is so full of holes even if a big name free agent is brought in, it would be like putting a bandaid on the Titanic.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 The Mets are unenthusiastic about the available free agent shortstops, and plan to go the trade route to fill the position. The Diamondbacks, Mariners, White Sox, and Cubs are viewed as viable trade partners. Andy Martino of the New York Daily News says “it has been difficult, if not impossible” for the Mets and Cubs to agree on the value of Starlin Castro. Meanwhile, Martino says Alexei Ramirez of the White Sox only emerged as a possibility within the past week. Hmmmm, I can think of a SS who would look good in a mets uniform.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Reyes to the Mets makes a lot of sense. How much salary the Mets would be willing to take is the question.
