BlueBirdBro Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Next year we can't break 300k. Not going to get many good eggs for that.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Next year we can't break 300k. Not going to get many good eggs for that. Might as well really blow your load if you are limited next year. I hope Rogers opens the wallet here.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Guerrero Academy @mhallbaseball Vladimir Guerrero Jr. announcement will be made today very shortly as things become official! Circumstances changed from earlier tweets.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Might as well really blow your load if you are limited next year. I hope Rogers opens the wallet here. They didn't. The top talents have all been confirmed to signing with other teams.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Guerrero Academy @mhallbaseball 1h1 hour ago Sorry for the confusion on Vlad Guerrero Jr. He has yet to officially sign a contract. Make of it what you will w/ the 'agreements' for now! err.. this didn't sound good.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 What signing? Rumour until pen meets paper! Ang go kick this punk ass kids ass for us!
metafour Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Love the Guerrero signing... But I think the Jays screwed up this signing period beyond that and for next year. It is obvious that the international directors league wide don't really see the penalties as being anywhere near as morbid as the fans do. Most of these guys are very comfortable with finding players for $300K and below, to the point where they'll gladly live with that reality in exchange for what they believe is a special talent. I think its obvious that Rogers wouldn't fund an "all-in" spending strategy at this point in time anyway, so that alternative really isn't even worth discussing.
metafour Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 But I also don't like the idea of restricting yourself in 2016...a stronger class than the last few from all accounts. I think its simply a situation wherein the player now is worth more than the guys next year. Ultimately you can't control what other teams do next year anyway, so you take the top guy now because if 10 other teams all decide they want to go on a spending spree next year then what do you do?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 A friend of mine, just told me that Vladimir Guerrero Jr and Toronto reached a verbal agreement about 4.5 million dollars for next July 2. The friend of mine (Alex Colome and Jose Dominguez cousin), came to a verbal agreement with the A's for the next July 2. My credibility is intact, bitches!!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 He didn't sign for $4.5m. You suck! And now, you're top-5 in my favourite cyberfriends. Spank, i miss you!!
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 The Jays are over the cap now right? What are the penalities again?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 7m7 minutes ago Manhattan, NY vlad jr. will be repped by rick thurman at @BHSCouncil
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 The Jays are over the cap now right? What are the penalities again? If they blew their cap this year, they can't sign any international prospects for over 300K in either of the next two signing periods.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 if they blew their cap this year, they can't sign any international prospects for over 300k in either of the next two signing periods. 500k?
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 If they blew their cap this year, they can't sign any international prospects for over 300K in either of the next two signing periods. that's what i thought, what the hell are people excited about again. In this system you either go way over the cap or you stay within it and try to go for quantity over quality. The useless GM of ours chose the least efficient middle ground.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 500k? Any spending over the bonus pool allotment is taxed at 100%. A team that exceeds its bonus pool by more than 5% but less than 10% is prohibited from signing any international player the following year for more than $500,000. A team that exceeds its bonus pool by more than 10% but less than 15% percent is prohibited from signing any international player the following year for more than $300,000. A team that exceeds its bonus pool by more than 15% is prohibited from signing any international player for the following two years for more than $300,000.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Blue Jays recognize value in international market http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-recognize-value-in-international-market/ “These guys are so young, I don’t know who the best 16 year old is going to be (next year),” he added. “We might have an idea but these guys change, it’s hard enough already to scout 18 year olds. If you have a player you really like and you’re trying to say, well, you forgo the opportunity to sign the best 16 year old two years from now or three years from now, well, you may not like that guy to begin with, and two, you may not even get him. We’re fine with taking the bird in the hand approach, but we better really feel good about the player if we were to do something like that.”
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Looks like the Jays made a trade to get more cap space! Details not yet known.
