Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Then why subject yourself to limitations, penalties, and restrictions but only benefit partially. If you're going to go beyond slot then make it worth your time and effort. I'm really eager to see how this all plays out. I know I've talked to you about this in the past, but if they have Guerrero, they'll spend a lot more, it just doesn't make any sense not to...meh, we'll see next year, like you said.
metafour Verified Member Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 No, not really. If they break their limit and handcuff themselves for the next two years for one guy, it's not better than actually hitting slot for three years. Duh. "Half-assing" it doesn't imply just signing one guy (Guerrero Jr) to me. They are are obviously going to spend more than ~$3 million. What I'm saying is that we don't really need to go full-Yankees to actually make it worthwhile.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 No. They don't have to go The Full Yankee....but I also don't want to see them spend $5M if their cap is $3M (don't know what their cap is). That's my main point...don't just go over a little bit. Make a significant impact. Well, rumour was they were going bigger than NY...who knows.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 I never hear that. Just heard that they'd go over slot. It was a while back, from Badler/Kenny Ken/Morisi, etc, etc...still just a rumour.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Hope it's true...but with all the talk we've had for years about Rogers and $$$, I tend to wonder how true that really is. Then we swing back to the point, why bother, we'll see.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Well, rumour was they were going bigger than NY...who knows. I really don't see this happening. I don't see them blowing 30M in one period and throwing away another 15M in taxes. Those sound like insane amounts of money when talking about Rogers.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 P.S. That's a pindrop to Rogers, if they see fit, I can't see why this wouldn't entice them from a different budget. Just saying... A 200M salary is a pindrop to Rogers. If they refuse to spend, they refuse to spend. They've done well for the payroll so far, and they've done well in the draft and IFA signings as well, but whenever it comes to large international expenditures, they seem to shy away. I also don't see them being very welcome to the idea of dumping so much excess money in penalties.

It's a different budget and the Birds are commited next year, per rumour, and the rest of your comments are hogwash, as true as the sky is black, you have know clue. Fair Enough?

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 How can one have 'know' clue? Isn't that an oxymoron? Obviously, that's what I'm arguing, if you peeked back dickhead.
