What if he's only able to do it against righties, can't play defence, and is supposedly a clubhouse nuisance?

Fair points. He still had value though. If all Jays fans thought it was a bad trade and all Brewers fans loved it, it can be an indicator it was an over payment.

I guess AA just wanted to get rid of Lind, and had his mind set on Estrada. Like always, he's willing to overpay when he has his mind set. Looks like a great move now of course. Estrada does have a good track record, just wasn't as good last year.

Jays had in fact made up their mind that they'd either get what they could for Lind or they'd decline his option.

Overall, we also have to remember that they saved money by trading away Lind, Happ and getting Estrada and Saunders, both with an additional year of control.

They also renegotiated Smoak's deal to 1M instead of going to arbitration with him.

Who knows, without these savings, Martin may not have been signed and they may have no more money to spend during the season, although, it remains to be seen if in fact a. they do have budget room, or b. they do spend it.

The platoon split would barely come into play with this lineup though since they face such few LHP.

True. But Lind can't hit lefties and let's face it. He's been very easily replaced.

I totally forgot about Lind until this thread bump.

Still think we could and should have gotten more for Lind.

Even though I wasn't a fan of this deal at the time, market value for Lind probably wouldn't have been much higher. He was a platoon-only guy going into his age 32 season, making 7.5M. Besides, we don't know which teams would have wanted him, and which of them would have offered something the Jays needed. I don't think AA makes many deals without having exhausted every other option first.

I can assure you it was dry.

Also. Why not just use your BTS account?

BTS should probably feel insulted by this.

All this thread reminds me of is being on a tropical island year, which is where I was when this trade broke. And just like I said in my post, I was drowning myself in rum on the beach.

I'm not doing that right now, so this thread still sucks
