Looking back on it I wouldn't even trade Hutch or Stroman straight up for Samardizja.. The worst part is AA would have if they only asked for one at the time. Pretty sure I remember AA saying they were willing to give up one top prospect but not multiple.

I bet you there were plenty of fans that would be good with that deal cause Shmardzilla is "a proven commodity" and the 3 youngsters are "unproven".

 

Just because the Cubs wanted something doesn't mean you give it to them, at least that's not how its supposed to work.

 

1) this was in the offseason when none of them had pitched this year

2) Did AA even counter

 

Most fans are not upset at not acquiring an ace, most fans are upset because deals like for Headley or Prado didn't happen at the deadline, and those guys weren't asking for premier prospects they were asking for payroll take over

Theo will probably ask for both Sanchez and Norris for ONE of the Cubs SS. I would trade both for Bryant but thats about it. Maybe Russell but certainly not Baez
